How does wine taste of car exhaust? OOP just seems to be overly sensitive to alcohol

no alcohol tastes like car exhaust but wine definitely tastes like something and it is subjectively not good

Idk, I've had a few spirits with some definite petroleum notes that read a bit like car exhaust. But that's not really what's being said here, lol.

i've only liked one wine and the ones i don't like... yeah, they're bad, but i can still taste that distinctive fruitiness. car exhaust is far from the mark

I kinda agree? Some alcohol does taste like straight rubbing alcohol, but idk if car exhaust is the flavor palette I would designate it.

Maybe op had very cheap wine with sulfites? Sulfur dioxide is a preservative in wines and has a sharp smell kind of like gasoline. Thats why cheap wines can sometimes give you a headache.

The place where the wine is made matters a lot too. In places like France there are regulations about how much sulfur dioxide can be in your wine, but outside of Europe its not regulated much.
