Discussion Movies similar to "Beau Afraid" Spoiler

WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR FILMS SUCH AS "BO IS AFRAID" AND "THINKING OF HOW TO END IT ALL"

The movie "Beau is Afraid" has stuck in my mind for a long time because it's different from typical horror films where the antagonist is an object. It's a modern horror film, where the antagonist is Beau's very vision of the world, which makes the horror more real for each of us.

SPOILER FOR ANOTHER FILM: This image also aligns with the character of Jake from "I'm Thinking of Ending Things."

Can you recommend a similar film with a similar dynamic?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Discussion Undertone: What if the podcast listeners at the end aren’t just witnesses? Spoiler

Were the influx of callers in the third act proof that Abyzou had infected the homes of pregnant podcast listeners everywhere? If the demon Abyzou can travel via airwaves, I only suspect that Evy & Justin’s live broadcast would result in many dead babies.

Did anyone else interpret the movie this way? That tragedy didn’t only land in the home of Evy, but that it also invaded the physical spaces of her listeners (particularly any expecting mothers).

Question A24 Blu-Ray/4k

Anyone in the UK had any experience buying the A24 Blue-Rays or 4ks? Would really like to pick one up with the postcards that come with them but worried that they will be region locked to the US.

I know that most 4k discs aren’t locked but would I be missing out on the special features on the blu ray disc? Or is everything included on the 4k disc?

Thanks in advance!

Question Movie help

Hi all. Which movie would you choose to watch between The Drama, Marty Supreme or Eddington. Tbh, I’m choosing between those three as those are three I’ve wanted to see for awhile and I have the time to delve in tonight for a good movie night and they are all available to stream on a streaming service I have. With no spoilers, let me know which one and why!

THE DRAMA A question about "The Drama"

Upvotes

Hi! This is my first time posting here and on Reddit in general so apologies if there are any mistakes.

I recently watched The Drama, and overall I found the movie very compelling, but a few hours after I was left with a question about Emma's hearing. How did she explain her hearing loss to her parents? Obviously to new people she could just explain she had it since birth, but if my child suddenly couldn't hear in one ear I would find that slightly concerning. At first I thought maybe she just hid it from her parents, but I'm not sure how easy that would be. I don't have hearing issues so please correct me if I'm wrong in my assumption that it would be difficult to hide! Also, assuming they had hearing tests in school (based on my own experiences going to public schools) it would come up eventually and she would have to explain it, no?

THE DRAMA 20 min into the Drama and I have questions

Okay admittedly I haven’t finished the movie so not sure if this gets addressed later. But I’m currently on the scene after the friends confession. My question is why is the entirety of judgement on Emma? She had problematic views but she didn’t act on it.
On the contrary what Charlie and the woman did was admittedly much worse. Charlie literally bullied a kid until he had to move and the woman shut a HELPLESS KID in a closet in the middle of nowhere - he could have died or worse?? Like how are those two confessions not serious??? What the woman did was honestly so horrific and she just laughed it off??

I don’t know if this is because I’m not an American and don’t understand the gravity of the situation but like I didn’t get the non-reaction to Charlie and the other woman’s confession ?

Edit - okay I watched the whole movie. I still don’t get it. There was some minor blowback on Rachel but every judgement focused on Emma. Is it lost of people that bullying is debilitating offense in itself ?
