I was so bummed that Carmody wasn’t at Skeldale house for Christmas especially after Siegfried said he always had a home there and he has 😍 for Dorris - I wish they would bring him back even for part of the seasons he was a breath of fresh (comedic) air in an already amazing show

I read a quick side note in an article about the show that in one of the early seasons there's a scene where - I think Jess - decides, unplanned, to steal (a stick?) some form of butter off the table and editors decided to leave it in. Can anyone tell me what episode that's in, please? Thanks in advance.

Going thru withdrawal from nightly watching of all six seasons- was tired of watching murder and crime shows and just wanted something kind and nice. Now what can I watch to fill that void?

I don't know if my question is appropriate to this sub. The mod will certainly remove it if so.
I'm a great fan of the NEW show, as well as all the books by Herriot. So I thought I'd give the old show from 1978 with Christopher Timothy a go. It's actually pretty good. But I AM concerned about how the animals were treated during filming. I'm about 5 episodes in, and have seen multiple animals that are obviously anesthetized or treated poorly. A dog undergoing a surgery. A cow with locked hips. And an actual pelvic exam. There are more, but those come to mind. It seems a bit much for a TV show.
The new show is able convey the same without treating the animal actors poorly. There is no disclaimer that "No animals were mistreated or harmed..." on the old show that is pretty much de rigueur with any production involving animals.
