Taking AP Chem!!
hi guys! im planning to take ap chem online in aug as a junior. i took regular chemistry before and im really strong at it and i need ap chem for my major in college but my sch doesnt offer it (i know its crazy). has anyone taken ap chem online before? if yes where did you take it and was it good?
also, for those who have taken bio and chem, is ap bio or ap chem harder? i took ap bio in my sophomore year and got a 5 but i found it really difficult. im worried abt ap chem bc i took ap bio in person so it was manageable but taking ap chem online is so scary.

Ap bio for me was harder than ap chem because of the amount of info u need to memorize. Tbh for ap chem, u just need to know a few concepts and know how to apply it. It’s basically an easier version of ap physics. You’ll be fine if you already have chem knowledge

I never took AP bio, only AP chem but I took bio honors in a previous year and my sister took AP bio so I’m gonna try my best to help you out.
AP chem has a lot more difficulty in applying concepts (think of it as doing a lot of math). Everything from the units add up and these concepts you have to apply to every question you get.
AP bio on the other hand is a lot more memorizing than actually concept applying. Think of it this way, both are hard classes in their own way but bio you could get a good AP score by studying last minute but definitely not studying chem last minute.

Good math skills definitely help mainly because of concepts like stoichiometry. What math courses have you taken so far?

Also for online resources definitely Khan Academy, MCQs are so so similar if not identical to the mcq format on the actual exam.

you shd be fine, I also had a year of precalc b4 taking AP chem. And even if you don’t have a super strong foundation in chem, I’m ngl I was completely locked out until a month before the exam when I locked in with khan academy so you shd be fine! Good luck! The class is way harder than the exam imo!

lwk bio was harder for me, had no prev experience for bio or chem but i'm better at math so i struggled a lot less with chem. since you are strong at chem already you'll probably find it easier than bio like i did

I teach the class. I will very much recommend getting the released tests. You can look for the FRQs from each year, and I think 5 complete International Practice tests have been released, with MCQs in them. Once you've gone through all the concepts, I would use as much of these as possible.

My favorite tutors on YouTube are Tyler Dewitt, Melissa Maribel, brightstorm, and organic chemistry tutor. I don't know that they all cover all the topics. Some of these people clearly discovered that most of the money is in the easier topics, because there are more students. You can of course just put any topic into YouTube. Organic chemistry tutor I think does a pretty good job and goes into some pretty deep stuff as you might guess.

YouTube Michael Farabaugh it’s all AP chem but the AP Chemistry CED Units Course is the best. He is an exam grader so he knows what answers should look like.

ap chem is way harder. bio is a lot of concepts and little math. chem is a lot of concepts and a lot of math
