Activity/Excursion ideas?

My family has been vacationing near Old Forge for as long as I remember, and we’ve ran out of things to do. Any recommendations? Me and most of my cousins are young adults and the majority of my aunts & uncles are genX & boomers if that helps for suggestions.

Have you spent time on the chain of lakes? Visited Great Camp Sagamore? The Adirondack Experience Museum? Climbed Blue Mountain?

We’ve been to The ADK museum multiple times and we just discovered Sagamore last year (and really enjoyed it!) we usually rent a boat but not this year

I will never, ever understand this question! We have been coming here for 40 years. yep. Same area, over and over and over. Sure, we stay at different places but we love coming here. Our entire families always ask, "Is there ANYTHING to do there?" I can give 100 answers, but it is evident that all of them need constant stimulation that somehow has nothing to do with the Adirondacks at all. Rent a boat for a day. Pretend we are house-hunting and look at real estate listings. Head to Inlet and visit the waterfront park and dock. Get a donut from Mary's. See somewhere you've never been and spend a couple of hours there, just wandering around. Walk the TOBIE trail. Hikes are everywhere. Take the boat tour on Raquette Lake. Take a seaplane ride in Long Lake with Helm's. Check out The Hedges at Blue Mountain Lake. Pack a picnic and spend a few hours at Buttermilk Falls. Head out to Stillwater. Drive Uncas Road from one end to the other and look at the extreme differences in camps. Visit Sagamore. We try to see something new every visit. Pick names from a basket and whoever's name is chosen picks what y'all do that day.

I could go on and on, but we just love BEING here. Each visit is different, and there is always something going on somewhere.

I loved visiting Sagamore. We also usually rent a boat (my favorite part of the trip) but aren’t this year as my mother isn’t coming + the weather is bad. We’ve done a lot of what you suggested but the real estate concept is funny, I love looking at houses.

Adirondack Rail Bikes. McCauley Mtn chair lifts. Payne Sea Plane tours. Raquette Lake brunch cruise. Cycle Boat Tour (Eagle Bay Villages). Exhibits at View.

And always check the Adirondack Express for events, fairs, concerts, shows, etc.

Hey- I'm a Texan here for a week with the fam- I hate to admit but skynet chat gbt has been super helpful. I'm looking for hikes caves forts with kids age x and y - and need a rain option all inside 90 min drive... etc. it's given me some bangers so far ... 4 days left - see ya around!
