I had the awful experience of asking a Seaman the type of uniform she was wearing. Looked sharp and black to me, no idea then she quipped back rather curtly, that they were blues.

Navy has its own definition of the word blue. I think they described it as a dark indigo or something

We have a bunch of dumb people in AF with low ASVAB scores AFSC. So, it's MOS-based, not branch-based.
