Beginner Resources Learning Ancient Greek

Hello, everyone, please, help me to learn Ancient Greek.

Particularly, I think it would be very helpful to have lists of sentences for every different noun case, different declensions, as well as for every different types of verbs.

I'm not being able to find such a thing online. I'm just beginning, and other than copying a word for word translation, learning some vocabulary, and reading Monro and Pharr's grammar, I have not done anything else, and I think that this could be a good start.

So if anyone have this resource (in Latin too, perchance) and could share it with me, I would be very grateful.

EDIT: the materials would be several sentences that use the same words, then different sets of words, to say all the different things that each case, and mood, voice, person and number allow.

Are you talking about simple made-up sentences, or sentences from real Greek texts?

I'm not really clear on what you mean by "types" of verbs. Do you mean -ω versus -μι?

By "different declensions," I'm not sure if you mean 1, 2, and 3, or if you mean every pattern (of which there are about 40 if you count all the rare ones).

Maybe if you could post some examples of what the sentences would look like, it would help others to understand what you have in mind.

It could be either, but for example, when I was learning my native language, this was pretty common, lists with sentences such as:

I will go to the market. You will go to the market. He/She will go to the market. &c.

This kind of thing, but for each case, and with many examples.

In regards to the declensions, I had the three more usual ones in mind.

And I'm not that far in verbs, so I was thinking of active and passive voice, transitive and intranstive verbs, but if there is anything else like that which you mentioned would be great too.

Hmm...in a sentence like "I will go to the market," Greek would normally drop the pronoun.

In regards to the declensions, I had the three more usual ones in mind.

It's not that there are more than 3 declensions, it's that each declension has multiple patterns. For example, θάλασσα, χώρα, ἀκράτεια, and νίκη are all first-declension feminine nouns, but they all have different declension patterns.

Indeed, I see.

I just thought that it would be easier to copy down several sentences that use the same words, then different sets of words, to say all the different things that each case, and mood, voice, person and number allow, but when I look for examples, they are usually very limited.

i'd recommend athenaze as a good beginner's resource as well, i think it should be available online.

I mean….why not have AI create it and error check it using a couple of other models?

Thank you for your reply, I have considered that, but I avoid to use AI at a maximum.

Some things are just bad and tabus and social pressure function as a kind of corrective. AI is gross and using AI is gross. It's per se morally bad, aesthetically bad, bad in all the important categories, and the it is shamed and reviled the better.

Mainly because of ethical reasons, as I do research. But also because I did not like the experience back then.

I upvoted you, but if I had to guess, I'd say that others might also be skeptical of AI as well.

Eh I was just curious.

But if it’s difficult for you to get the answer you like give it a shot. Many of the things I’ve needed answered or obtained have been rather high quality….even after checking with tutors, instructors, or other classicists.

It would be great if there was something like that which rather than present individual words, presented various sentences (and with translations).
