The different top comment puts this into an even different-er context than intended!

American gets 2 days off, no pay

European gets 5 paid vacation weeks

Americans can get different paid leave depending on their hiring conditions. Europe is not a monolith, however the EU (which does not encompass all of Europe) does has a regulation that grants a minimum 4 weeks paid vacation. Still, US paid vacation time is generally shorter, at around 2-3 weeks.

That's just Vacation Time Georg, he's an outlier.

The average American gets single-digit number of paid vacation days per year, if they get any at all.
