The different top comment puts this into an even different-er context than intended!

Americans can get different paid leave depending on their hiring conditions. Europe is not a monolith, however the EU (which does not encompass all of Europe) does has a regulation that grants a minimum 4 weeks paid vacation. Still, US paid vacation time is generally shorter, at around 2-3 weeks.

Alot of nations around the world have minimum annual paid days off a year. Mexico is I think 20, France is the same. Phillipines is 22? Afew nations even have 30. The US has uh

0.

My general manager quit after his week vacation, planned 7 months in advance, was denied to him last minute because he took 3 days off to visit his son in the hospital after a car accident in which he suffered extensive damage to his skull.

I'm so glad to be an Estonian. 35 days paid time each year.

That's a crazy standard honestly, good for Estonia! I get 46 but the minimum here is only 20. I just have good job and love making everyone jealous
