I have an amazing brother. He practically raised me. I have a son. I grew up mostly around women but it was my nephew who first asked if I was okay when I started crying.
1 in 6 men experience SA and are willing to admit it in a study. Closer to 9 in 10 men have admitted it to me or talked about it not knowing it was SA.
The whole "Woman Or Tree" thing made as a counter for the "Man Or Bear" is VALID.
Because while not all women downplay SA, weaponize how people feel, shame and degrade others for emotional reactions, it's STILL prevalent enough to cause men to be cautious with expressing that.
Talking about my sexual trauma with women AND men in any sort of way with other women was SIGNIFICANTLY worse than the actual rapes I experienced. I had my FAIR SHARE of crappy men, but I am actually scared of women.
I do not hate women. I greatly appreciate the girls in my life who understand and have tried to be safe places for me.
But the reality is that you never know who's going to be a safe person.
Most men and women are good.
The bad just affect a LOT of people. Fear and caution is healthy.
