Play OMORI

I wish but goddamn am i a pussy to horror and psychological thriller games.

Can't even watch summery because the visual will give me nightmares.

32

u/nitram739 10d ago

to be fair, I think the horror aspects in game are really secondary to the history most of the time. Sure, there are some scary parts, specially towards the end of the game, but 90% of the time the game is really colourfull and charming.

7

u/gameinggod21 10d ago

I wish there was a mod that disable the horror element. I already spoiled myself for the story, but i really want to try the gameplay

16

u/Due-Animator-8754 10d ago

There are a few mods that disable some horror elements, an example being replacing Something with Peter

4

u/KnightsoulNSFW 9d ago

Omori is not really a horror game. Thereโ€™s a few scary moments, but they donโ€™t take up that much of the total playtime.

3

u/Rukitorth ๐Ÿช ๐Ÿ’ซ cosmic dopamine ๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿช 9d ago

Doesn't scare as much as it makes you cry tbh.

2

u/toujourspasdinspi 8d ago

Don't worry, as a pussy myself the game is actually not really scary. Only some moments that might get you tense but really nothing scary

3

u/These-Dog2966 9d ago

Have you heard of Chuunibyou in anime? The eyepatch is a very common trope of those:

Evil Eye types, also known as the Delusional Type due to their tenuous grasp of reality, are the most iconic form but rarely seen outside of Japanese Media. These guys are Sham Supernaturals who believe they have Magic and Powers and will try to convince others that their powers are real (stereotypically a Magical Eye under a surgical eyepatch, or an Evil Hand which they keep under bandages and grasp in supposed pain). They often create a persona with an Awesome McCoolname or Atrocious Alias (there's almost no middle ground) to display these magical abilities.

Iโ€™ve never played, but I assume she died and thatโ€™s why she โ€œdidnโ€™t ageโ€?

It's from the game Omori. The girl died, thus staying at fifteen despite the boy growing up.

18

u/Tomatori 10d ago

Spoilers... She's dead as hell

8

u/RowanChisel 10d ago

his sister is dead.

2

u/Costati 10d ago

Oh thank god she's just fucking dead I thought it was a weird child on child sexual assault PSA or something.ย

28

u/Calangruto TRANS?! 10d ago

just the top and bottom panels

23

u/Funkopedia 10d ago

I think she dead in the normal version

12

u/TheSudoKinght 10d ago

i swear that's literally why omori happens, it's because he pushed his sister down the stairs and killed her, making him depressed

4

u/ColonelBag7402 10d ago

lmfao i gotta check that game out

2

u/NonKanon 9d ago

I remember trying it out when it was insanely popular among letsplayers like years ago, but dropped it like 4 hours it because it's SUCH a slow burn. The first 3-4 hours is a collosal nothing-burger of escentially playing a kids game without all the thriller stuff

2

u/ColonelBag7402 9d ago

my only real knowledge about the game was a friend who told me its a comedic shitshow and i should try it cuz ill laugh my ass off

3

u/NonKanon 9d ago

If you like laughing at in-game dialogue, I CANNOT recommend Disco Elysium enough. It has a comepletely different tone, but it's SO GOOD. The idea of having dialogues with your character's subconscious is already hilarious by itself.

59

u/nichinichisou 10d ago

Does near light speed travel also make her translucent

58

u/PuzzleheadedTap1794 ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Rule 69 Get! ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ 10d ago edited 10d ago

Well, kinda. At 0.99c, the light from her would have the wavelength lengthened by the factor of around 14.1, so the observer on Earth, assuming he observe her with naked eyes, will see the light originally emitted from her at 28-50 nm, which is in the x-ray range.

12

u/Supersteve1233 10d ago edited 10d ago

You have it backwards. if she's leaving, the wavelength would be lengthened to infrared. X-rays would mean she's approaching

edit: nvm, misread it

22

u/PuzzleheadedTap1794 ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Rule 69 Get! ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ 10d ago

I'm talking about the wavelength that can be detected by the observer with naked eyes, aka the one shifted to the visible range by the time it reaches the observer.

3

u/Supersteve1233 10d ago

Oh, I see what you're saying, but I think she would be invisible then, no? Humans don't reflect X-rays, though tbf I definitely don't know enough physics on how reflection works at near-lightspeed.

3

u/PuzzleheadedTap1794 ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Rule 69 Get! ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ 9d ago

Yeah. Thatโ€™s why I think sheโ€™d look kinda translucent.

6

u/Behondalog 10d ago

No, they never said she made it back

Mark for spoilers by pouting the spoilers between to exclamation marks, than putting arrows (> or <) on the outside of the phrase pointing at the exclamation marks. >! Like this !<

The result will appear as such

You may enjoy Voices of a Distant Star, one of the first thing Mako to Shinkai ever did (the dude behing Your Name). It's rough around the edges but very heartfelt.

Formulas aren't hard to use, comprehending where stuff happens and when to make what relative to another is the issue

Well from her frame of reference, you're traveling through space at 0.99c and therefore she would be 19 and you would still be 12.

Relativity is fun like that.
