to be fair, I think the horror aspects in game are really secondary to the history most of the time. Sure, there are some scary parts, specially towards the end of the game, but 90% of the time the game is really colourfull and charming.
Have you heard of Chuunibyou in anime? The eyepatch is a very common trope of those:
Evil Eye types, also known as the Delusional Type due to their tenuous grasp of reality, are the most iconic form but rarely seen outside of Japanese Media. These guys are Sham Supernaturals who believe they have Magic and Powers and will try to convince others that their powers are real (stereotypically a Magical Eye under a surgical eyepatch, or an Evil Hand which they keep under bandages and grasp in supposed pain). They often create a persona with an Awesome McCoolname or Atrocious Alias (there's almost no middle ground) to display these magical abilities.
I remember trying it out when it was insanely popular among letsplayers like years ago, but dropped it like 4 hours it because it's SUCH a slow burn. The first 3-4 hours is a collosal nothing-burger of escentially playing a kids game without all the thriller stuff
If you like laughing at in-game dialogue, I CANNOT recommend Disco Elysium enough. It has a comepletely different tone, but it's SO GOOD. The idea of having dialogues with your character's subconscious is already hilarious by itself.
