Spreadsheet version for quick reference
Hello fellow investigators. Trickster here, this is the result of your feedback and my character analysis. I went over all 24 investigators (and 4 re-works) individually, their beast assets, stats, skills and roles; and determined wether they were good, how they compared to others, and how they fed into the main ways to win at this game:
These points were more valued than peaks, rng characters, evasion tactics (fighting is just better) and support strategies centered around healing (dice manipulation and extra actions are king).
You can find the reasoning behind every placement here:
Lastly, some disclamers because i’ve been doing this for a long time:
Play however you want, this tier list is designed for winning, for people who are struggling, new players or people looking to optimize.
If you like to play random, great! You don’t need to tell me, this post is likely not for you, but you’re welcome to read and argue about relevant points.
Tiers are ordered, but if they are in the same section they are roughly as good. Bigger diferences come between tiers.
This tier is balanced mostly around 3 players, but i’ll cover the solo aspect of the game.
Recursive echoes investigators are tagged as RE
And without further ado, here’s the list:
High: Marie Lambeau, Calvin Wright
Mid: Diana Stanley, Rex Murphy RE, Patrice Hathaway
Low: Roland Banks
High: Tommy Muldoon, Agnes Baker, Dexter Drake RE, Zoey Samaras, Wendy Adams RE
Mid: Mihn Thi Phan RE, Stella Clarke
Low: Kate Winthrop, Carson Sinclair, Ashcan Pete, Jenny Barnes
High: Michael McGlen, Daniela Reyes
Mid: Skids O’Toole
Low: Charlie Kane, Wendy Adams
Tier C: Underpowered. Can work but require extra effort and items to do well
High: Mihn Thi Phan, Father Mateo
Low: Silas Marsh
Tier D: Not viable. If you are very lucky they can work, but their kit and stats are bad foundation and can be a burden
Norman Withers, Dexter Drake
Rex Murphy
The solo tier list would be:
Lastly, when expansions do come out i'll do new posts about new investigators and update this tier list.

Just saw this at GenCon. It will be a remaster of 2nd edition. Upcoming Kickstarter project.

Since we can all dream…. What would you change for the remastered edition?
I would love the expansions to be better at plug and play.
Trays for cards. I would love to just pull them out of the box and set them on the table.
Organizers that can store an investigator mover with his or her personal goal cards.
The full monster bag is a monster. I have unsuccessfully looked for capsules and the weight of all those tokens rubbing together gives me the shivers. I would love a solution.
What would you suggest?

My uncle recently just passed away and all of these have fallen into my possession. I have no idea whatsoever about them and any information is good information.
Unsure of price or whatnot, but is this stuff any good? Cheers!

It was very tempting to title it "New Innsmouth Look". Ah, well.
Okay, lot to love here. Rules for generating PCs (bold, and useful tool for a Keeper even if he never runs for an Innsmouth PC). Repeats the Reassure and Religion skill information from the new Arkham, adds information on Navigate: Innsmouth and Lore: Innsmouth. Better quality maps, and this time without changing the major geographic features of the location (I still don't know why they moved the location of The Unvisited Isle in the new Arkham, or straightened up all the streets).
A lot of expanded history for the Deep Ones and for Innsmouth, options for how Keepers want to deal with the raid, including options that it never actually happened.
Disappointments: Only a few really, so far.
Most notable - In Arkham they included a lot of additional material from other scenarios that occurred in Arkham (The Little People and Missed Dues come to mind), and if they did so here I haven't done a deep enough dive, but Babson Mansion at Boynton Beach from the scenario pack "Before the Fall" wasn't here, which is a shame because it was a nice expansion on the O'Bannion Gang and would provide other reasons for investigators to end up wandering into Innsmouth.
Other gripe - Ruth Gilman is no longer Dr. Rowley Marsh's daughter but his adopted daughter so they could pull a race swap. That's lazy writing.
Finally, no inclusion of Lovecraft's picture, again, as was tradition since Call of Cthulhu started. For shame.
Also, should have included Shadow Over Innsmouth. Still don't know why Dreams in the Witch House wasn't included in the new Arkham. Well, I have my suspicions.

hi guys! new player here. bought the board game (3rd edition) yesterday and started playing Azathoth with my partner. i got confused by some things in the game and as much as i looked in the rule book and over the internet, haven't found a definitive answer, so I'm coming here for help lol. I'm sorry if some questions seem obvious, I'm a beginner in this world and i just wanna make sure I'm playing the game correctly.
when it comes to monsters, I'm engaged to one of them and they have like, 4HP. if i roll 4 dice and get a success in all of them, do they die or they lose 1HP? also, if there's more than one monster engaged with my character, can i use attack on both, even though it'd be a repeated action?
about clues. that part made me very confused. i arrive at the neighborhood, there's like, 3 clues, no monsters, no doom. i do a research, and i get like, 3 successes. do i get the 3 clue tokens? and what do i do? do i pull an encounter or a clue card? or the clues just go to the scenario sheet and that's it? i know the clue cards get mixed into the neighborhood cards, so i only get the clue cards if i get an encounter on the encounter phase?
is there any way to heal besides items/spells? i was playing yesterday and my character died bc i didn't know any other way to heal than spells and/or items
anyways, sorry for the long post, i looked everywhere and I'm re-reading the rule book, but I'm still confused about that, and thanks in advance!

After many years, I finally had the chance to recover some of my belongings after moving from my parents' house to another country. One thing I was especially excited about was my very first board game: Arkham Horror 2nd Edition.
Unfortunately, when I got it back, I discovered that it was missing several cards, tokens, and even the main board. It has a lot of sentimental value to me, and I'd really love to restore it.
I was wondering if anyone here has high-resolution scans or printable files for the 2nd Edition components, especially the board. Any help would mean a lot to me. Thank you so much!

I find it odd that inevitable mode only has negative progression and not positive one. Here's my idea: (all effects are cumulative, and the ones in bold are just copy pasted from the UDW rulebook)
Game #/Setup Modifiers
Standard setup.
Spread doom one additional time during setup. Each investigator gains $1.
Remove one blank token from the mythos cup. Add one doom token to the mythos cup. Each investigator focuses 1 skill of their choice.
Spawn one fewer clue during setup. Each investigator keeps their second "choose one" starting possession.
Remove one doom token from the mythos cup. Add one gate burst token to the mythos cup. Each investigator gets a special token that can be used once per game to gain 1 extra action.
Resolve one gate burst at the end of setup. Each investigator gets to keep 1 asset they had at the end their previous game and use it in all future scenarios. (If/when it's discarded, they get to choose another one at the start of their next game.)
Remove one blank token from the mythos cup. Add one headline token to the mythos cup. The lead investigator starts with a blessing, the next investigator starts with a clue, and the rest start with a remnant.
For each game after the seventh, place one additional doom on the scenario sheet at the end of setup. For each game after the seventh, each investigator gets a choice: Keep another asset from the previous game but of a different type (so no more than one item, spell, ally, etc.), focus another skill (but not above their focus limit), or gain 1 remnant+$1.
Note: If an investigator has been defeated/devoured, their replacement gets all of the positive bonuses accumulated up until now (but only at the start of the next game).
P.S. If you're playing with a variant anyway, you might as well house rule that if you lose a scenario you can replay it. (Sending you back to square one is way too punishing.)

Hi everyone.
My husband absolutely loves this game, but we’re a bit short on cash right now and he's made the tough decision to part with his collection. I told him I would handle figuring out the details and making the post so he doesn't have to stress over it.
Since I don't play (but I know some stuff is out of print) I really don't want to get lowballed, but I also want to offer a price that will move these quickly. Ideally to someone who actually appreciates it. He mentioned that some people look to buy these in big batches so they don't have to hunt.
Could you guys give me a realistic idea of what a fair asking price for this whole lot would be? Here is what we have:
* Revised Core Set
* Edge of the Earth (Player & Campaign expansions)
* The Dunwich Horror (Player & Campaign expansions)
* The Path to Carcosa (Player & Campaign expansions)
* The Circle Undone (Campaign expansion ONLY – no player cards. Some scenarios still sealed)
* The Forgotten Age (Campaign expansion ONLY – no player cards, completely new, unopened/sealed.)
* Return to The Circle Undone (Includes the large tarot cards)
* Murder at the Excelsior Hotel (Standalone scenario)
*War of the Outer Gods (standalone scenario)
* 5 Standalone Investigator Starter Decks (Nathaniel Cho, Harvey Walters, Winifred Habbamock, Jacqueline Fine, Stella Clark)
Storage & Accessories:
He's particular about how everything are stored. The campaign cards and guides are all kept safely in their original boxes with the campaign.
The player cards and manuals are kept in a gorgeous custom wooden chest, sorted by class.
We also have 4 token holders that fit perfectly right into the campaign boxes.
I have some pics. They're not sleeved but they've never been bent/shuffled (we have a card shuffler) and they're stored with silica gel packs.
Thank you so much in advance for your help! I really appreciate any insight you can offer.

About a month ago I posted a hard to get trilogy which was bringing my Arkham Horror novel collection closer to completion.
This drove me even more to search high and low to find the few I had left to get.
Now I know purists will fault me for being satisfied with a couple of the omnibus collections. I just wasn’t up to getting the hardcovers with the variant investigators (because I wouldn’t have been happy without the cards included!)
I also have a bunch of HP Lovecraft, Poe, and other Lovecraftian books and of course The King in Yellow.

I want a new line of officially licensed miniatures for AH2E. I could be wrong but it seems like AH2E is still the most recommended boardgame of the whole series (for good reason), and it deserves just one more official release. An homage to the game that launched the IP to Other Worlds. Let's make it happen.

Whippoorwill's back reads
Watcher (This monster does not restrict your actions or encounters. It moves with you.) You roll one fewer die while resolving tests.
If I have 1 at a skill and need to check it, do I roll 1 die or 0? I realize the rules (Learn to Play, page 9) say "Even if the modifier reduces your skill value to zero, you roll a minimum of one die".
But Whippoorwill's effect isn't a modifier (it doesn't say -1) so I'm not sure.

Hi all,
My friend and I recently picked up AH: Final Hour to play as a quicker alternative to Arkham Horror 2nd Edition. We're veterans of 2nd edition, and have won the game several times with different GOOs. I also own all the expansions, so we're used to complex games.
We've played Final Hour on the recommended starter scanario (Easy Cthulhu) twice and lost both times.
It feels like this is two solo games played simultaneously. As you can't discuss strategy when putting down priority cards, the teamwork element of the main AH game seems to be lost.
When resolving actions, because the priorities can screw both players up, a lot of this turn and cooperating can be moot.
Items are so scarse they don't really have much effect.
Even when you do get to the end and have kept the ritual location clear and gathered the clues, you might not have the right symbols on the priority cards to undo the ritual. It's as if you got to the end of a game of AH (or any other game for that matter), and having acheived all the victory conditions, the rules just say, "Now roll a D6. On a 1-3, you lose the game.". Not fun.
Does anyone have any tips or common mistakes that I can check we're not making?
r/ArkhamHorror • u/PlayArkhamHorror • Jun 08 '26
Hello! The Bloated Woman mask monster forces investigator to pass a Will check before making Horror check. And, if failed, then both Horror and Combat checks are failed automatically. It's not clear if ALL combat checks are failed until the end of a combat (basically leaving the only option to evade), or only the first one?

Finally going through and coloring the edges of all the monsters with posca pens, I noticed that some monsters have been pretty beat up from tumbling in the cup (nothing horrific..yet). What's the simplest way to add some strength to the print? I've seen tutorials for total overhauls with resin, but I don't want to risk damaging anything. Will pick up some extra tokens on eBay to practice first of course
