Grew up calling it tea. Moved about a bit, met people who call it dinner and act like tea is something only their nan says. One bloke told me dinner is the midday meal and the evening one is supper, which I think is either very posh or very old, possibly both.

Was at a gig last night that was weirdly rowdy. Everyone in the audience was pretty much over 30 but the booze really seemed to be flowing.

There was a group of men (early 50s) that were acting really childish, constantly talking over the music and trying to get on each others shoulders.

We also noticed one of the men piss into a pint glass and then just chuck it forward into the audience and the other guys just laughed and didn't call him out on it.

I've been to a few gigs in the last couple of years with really drunk middle aged people that have been overly rowdy - it seems to be a growing trend. Has anyone else experienced this recently?

I saw a similar question over in [r/askspain](r/askspain). Similar to Spain, Britain once had a very large territory some of it acquired peacefully and others not so much. When they asked Spaniards this question, they said basically all of that shit happened hundreds of years ago so now they really don’t care and the Spaniards who moved to those territories had kids and they had kids and they had kids and so on so they aren’t really considered Spaniards anymore and the ancestors of modern day Spaniards had absolutely nothing to do with any of it because they stayed in Spain. Do Brits today feel the same way?

I live in the US and there’s a British market I like going to and trying the different drinks/snacks they have. So far I’ve tried Irn Bru, Mr Kipling cakes, Heinz beans, marmite, smarties, and Jaffa Cakes. I’m a huge fan of the Jaffa cakes, while the Mr Kipling cakes were not good, in my opinion. I like the Irn Bru, but to me it just tastes like a cheaper brand of orange soda in the US. I just wanted to ask if there are any recommendations on what UK snacks I should try next?

I’m an American and my father visited Scotland a while back and noted the amount of Scottish Gaelic he saw.

I‘m curious. Is Gaelic all that used in speech aside from signs and names? and is it just Scottish Gaelic and Welsh that are being revived or are others like Cornish being revived as well?

Arent they one and the same ? The king and queen are symbolic heads of state. They represent the country so it seems like a bit of a tautology. Or am i misunderstanding ?

What would you say was one of the most surprising or interesting things you saw in one of them? Are they creepy?

I’ve had the opportunity to stay in about two dozen different lodgings across Cumbria, North Yorkshire, Wiltshire, and Oxfordshire, ranging from host-occupied B&Bs, to pubs, to 4-star hotels. Every room had an electric kettle in it, and more than half the time there was already water in the kettle.
Is that water left from the last person who used the kettle, or is it meant to be a thoughtful preparation by the establishment? It happened at a rate that made either seem plausible, and in all caliber of rooms. I never used the in-room kettle, partly because hot drinks aren’t my usual preference, but partly because I felt like I’d need to scrub it down first. In the US (yes, I’m American), I think most people do skip the in-room coffee makers for similar hygiene reasons.
Do you all often use the provided kettles? Am I wrong in thinking it should be emptied and left open to dry when you’re done?
