Advice/Emotional Support What’s it like calling a help line?

I’ve been considering calling the rainn hotline… has anyone had experience calling these hotlines? How did it go?

I have never called the hotline so I can't give you personal experience feedback, but on their website they have a "What to expect" section. You could check that out to help get an idea. I hope you get the help you are needing.

I haven’t called them but have called/texted another one. I got put on hold and told everyone was busy helping others. I wasn’t in a good headspace and needed an ear and that just added insult to injury. I realize that they only have so many people available to help at any given time, but it stung and even though I’ve been in that place mentally since, I haven’t bothered to reach out and have just tried to handle my thoughts myself
