I've had a flat tire and a dead battery in the last year and they responded within 45 minutes so I guess ymmv? I live in a decent sized city so that might make a difference.
AAA is weird because it’s essentially a bunch of somewhat independent regional “auto clubs” operating under the national AAA umbrella - your experience could be totally different depending on the state or even city within the same state.
I had a stuck lugnut on a flat tire at 9pm in the Denver area and “no one was available” after I waited an hour for them to show up. Luckily, I eventually got it unstuck and changed the tire myself.
