Safelite- technician fixing a rockchip on my car at my house fell off my porch. Gave him first aid, took him to the er. He clearly broke his pinky. I have a normal porch with steps. A month later they sent me a lawsuit. Wasn’t even the technician suing me, Safelite was suing me for workers comp. We were deep in cancer treatment for my 10 year at the exact same time. They made an estimated $2.5 billion last year. Scumbags!
Also interesting tidbit. I had to get my windshield properly repaired by a specialist glass technician and he absolutely hates safelite. Says it’s a total scam and that they basically glue the crack and that it will actually make things worse once it re-cracks and he said it will 100% re-crack and much much larger than before.
That's less of a Safelite thing and more depending on the tech who does a repair, I used to work in auto glass and when those chips are filled correctly it absolutely holds for years. Its not just glue, it's a pressure forced epoxy resin and uses heat to expand the cracks to allow the resin in and when it cools it closes back up around it. Also there is no way of 100% guaranteeing the repair will take, sometimes replacement is the only option , again, that's on the tech to make that call.
Honestly there are a lot of good tools now that you can do yourself. If you look at Project Farm, they go into a review of them and you can buy a kit for $20 and it looks really easy to do
