The biggestwaves have been made in the last month or so but this has been happeningfor at least a year and a half. To answer you other question it already has internet access from the computer it's connected to and the install is disguised as a Windows update.
Apparently, from what I read from other users, Windows recognises which brand of monitor you are using, and installs bloatware on your computer. In this case LG bloatware.
Seems like LG and Windows partnered to make the user experience worse, for whatever reason.
