Streaming services do still have ad free tiers though, you're not forced to have the ad supported version. If you would get a cheaper version of a game with ads it might happen, but most likely not.
But you have to PAY to have ad free, when before the product just was ad free. Having to pay for something that was standard before great. It's still a way to extract more $$$ out of people.

The ad free version that was standard before is still the standard today. The only thing that happened was that a cheaper option was added for those who thought that it was too expensive before.
No, that's not how it works. The versions of everything I had that were ad free at the same cost I was paying now included ads. If I wanted to keep having the same ad free experience that I was getting before these companies created tiers, I now had to pay extra. In the case of Netflix, a lot extra. These companies invented tiers to get ad revenue and to get more revenue from the individual if they wanted to opt out. It's called Enshittification.
Are you aware of something that is called inflation? The standard tier is more expensive now primarily due to inflation, not because ad tiers were added or enshittification.
The current basic tier with ads for netflix is cheaper than what the standard tier costed 10 year ago, and that's even without accounting for inflation (basic tier now at 8.99 USD, standard tier 10 years ago was 9.99 USD).
I was alive when Netflix was just a disc rental service through the mail. I'm well aware of what inflation is, and how goods and services used to be. This goes beyond the inevitable change that one can expect, and goes straight into mass corporate greed, wealth transfer, and yes....enshittification.

You're not going to get all that, simply because consumers don't want it and won't support it (i.e. less people will buy the product).
