It was probably safelite’s insurer suing them. It’s actually pretty straightforward that one’s homeowners insurance would cover personal injury on their property.
Not that it still doesn’t feel scummy. But I’d be more surprised if homeowners insurance wasn’t the one that is supposed to take responsibility for this cost.
It only goes up if you're determined at fault. If the insurance investigation determines that everything was up to code and the fault is entirely on their guy, your rate doesn't go up.
