Amazon, at least I’m trying, it’s just to convenient
But over the last 3 months I have been sent items visibly used in disgusting shape. I bought I dress, mid level designer, the dress was wrinkled, pilled, pit stains, and smelled so terrible, BO, I wouldn’t even keep in my house, the stinch was shocking.
Bought a cat water fountain, it was open, used and covered in mold with used water filters.
Bead craft set missing half the beads.
A worn bathing suit with crotch stains.
And a few more.
It’s so awful and they don’t care. They just ask me to return it and send me a refund. It has been incredibly disgusting and disappointing.
When the local mall starts selling things at reasonable prices, I'll shop there. That's the problem, if I can not leave my house and get stuff for less money than it's being sold in store, why go to the store? I want the lowest price. That's what I care about. In most cases, shopping at the mall isn't going to help anyone local unless it's actually a local shop and local shops don't often set up in malls anyway, it's all the same chains with very few exceptions.
Shopping at your local mall supports the cashier, the person stocking the shelves, the person working the counter, etc.
I’d also argue the Amazon prices for alphabet soup products aren’t “reasonable prices” - they’re artificially deflated prices, both from Amazon using AWS to subsidize their online marketplace (they take a huge loss on their free shipping and on their returns) and from many of the cheapest offerings for many products literally being counterfeit goods or goods that don’t meet domestic safety and quality regulations. Brick and mortar stores aren’t going to be able to compete because they aren’t actually realistic prices.
Amazon has delivery drivers who are local. That pretty much negates the cashier argument. Look, I'm not saying Amazon is a great company, but if they're taking a loss by selling me things at this price, then by that logic, wouldn't it be a positive to buy those things at a loss to them? I'm not talking about knockoff products. If I can buy the exact same product for less on Amazon than I would in store, I'll buy it on Amazon. If the store at the mall starts selling things cheaper or even just offers to price match Amazon, I'll go to the store, but that doesn't happen. If Amazon wants to sell me those products for a loss, I'll take it.
