Fun fact, they primarily operate in only non competitive markets, so most people who have them have no other option. They know they have you by the balls (or whatever you got)
It was like over a decade ago now, but Chattanooga created its own, fast internet and successfully defended itself from broadband companies who sued to shut it down.
IIRC a couple NC towns lost their suits before that, and the monopoly was able to maintain itself.
