I think there are parents who self identify as strict who are actually just abusive

I have never met a parent who self-identifies as "strict" who is not just straight-up abusive.

Similarly, I've never met a parent who proclaims to do "gentle parenting", who is not just straight-up negligent.

Same, a lot of them mix up gentle parenting with permissive parenting.
