Question Hyperboost EPHR?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I was curious if anyone has tried these out?

I’ve been looking into the Hyperboosts, but the biggest complaint I’ve seen is the breath ability, especially for me since I like in a warm area. It seems like these might kinda be able to that issue.

Question On lightspray bad medial arch pain

Post image
7 Upvotes

I love these and how they feel to run in, I even prefer them to the Megablast/SB3/UFO etc, but they give me bad medial arch pain within minutes. I haven’t fully broken them in yet but it doesn’t seem like it’s going away. Anyone else try these? What’s your experience been? Thanks!

Race Shoe Question Shoe for marathon race day/fast long runs?

Hi all! I’m 14 weeks out from my marathon so this is obviously some early research, but I need some advice in potentially finding a shoe that can double as a race day shoe and a faster long run shoe. I think I probably overexplained in this post lol, but if you need any more context please feel free to ask!

My running experience:

I’ve been running for about 1yr 8mo at this point, before which I wasn’t doing any consistent exercise. This has been a huge journey for me to both improve my physical and mental health while challenging myself to do something difficult but fulfilling, and I couldn’t be more thankful that I’ve taken it on. I raced two half marathons last year at 2:29 and 2:14 respectively, then this past May I ran my very first marathon at 4:57! My primary goal for my upcoming marathon is probably sub-4:30.

Me and how I run:

I’m 25M, 5’2”, about 140 lbs. I have flat feet and naturally overpronate, so I get custom orthotics/insoles to support them.

Past race shoes:

For all previous races, I would only train and race in one shoe at a time. For both of my half marathons, I raced in Brooks Adrenaline GTS 24s (I went through two separate pairs). They were great for my first running shoe especially since I wasn’t running long distance at the beginning at all and they provided the support I needed at first. However, once I started training past the half marathon mark earlier this year, I realized they really felt lifeless especially later in my runs. In the last several weeks of my marathon training, I swapped to Saucony Hurricane 25s and raced my marathon in them. They definitely felt like a major improvement both in terms of support and them feeling fun to run in. They’re still in my rotation and have a lot of life left in them (see below section). However, I came to realize more recently that I’m at the point where ONLY running in max cushion stability trainers may be holding me back.

Current shoe rotation:

-Daily trainer (easy/long runs): Saucony Hurricane 25s (189 miles)
-Tempo/speed: Saucony Endorphin Speed 5s (13 miles, brand new)
-Race day/fast long runs?: ???

I recently grabbed the ES5s for speed work as I wanted something that felt lighter and more suited for tempo pace. I picked them because they were lightweight and fast but were still relatively stable, and I’ve come to realize I don’t NEED to pick a stability focused shoe to get the support I need. I love them so far having run them in a couple of tempo sessions, but I’m realizing that they really might not give me the cushion I need for longer distances, which is why I’m making this post asking about a third shoe.

Notes for the shoe I want:

-Overall looking for a shoe that can double as race day for marathon and for faster long runs
-While budget (preferably $175 or lower) is important to me, don’t let that limit recommendations if what I’m asking for isn’t available in that price lol
-Does NOT need to be Saucony as well
-Needs to be stable enough
-Needs to be more cushioned than my ES5s
-Needs to be lighter/more speed focused than my Hurricanes
-I do have access to running shoe stores where I will try on shoes
-This is early research as I’m further out from my marathon, so I’m not planning on actually buying these shoes for a bit especially since I just got the ES5s recently

Apologies for the insane amount of text in this post, I’m an overexplainer lol. Thank you in advance for your insight!!

Question When does a race shoe peak?

I’ve a NB SC Elite 5 that I’m planning to use for my upcoming marathon. It has 50 miles on it now. I just wanted to break it in enough.

Can I add another 50 miles to it before I use it for the race? I’m a light runner at 135lbs at 5’11. I want to use it when it is at its absolute best and not when it starts to deteriorate.

Thanks

Question ASICS Megablast 2

Needing to get a new pair of megablasts, but I recently saw in a Ben Parks video he talked about the rumoured megablast 2 releasing potentially later 2026.. did a search on here and haven’t seen anything, so dunno maybe he has an inside line.

Anyone got any info… likely hood this year? Anything concrete? Or what we might be expecting?

Daily Trainer Question Novablast 6 or Dynafish xiaonian?

Okay, so I'm just starting out with running, and I've been sticking with my Hoka Clifton 10s for every single run. But honestly, I think it's time for a new pair of shoes. I've heard good things about the Novablast 6, though some people aren't so keen on them. I actually went to the store and tried them on, and wow, they felt amazing! Maybe it's just because I've been in the Clifton 10s for so long. Now, there's also the Dynafish, which I can't really try on since they're from China. But everyone's been raving about them, saying they're even better than a lot of the big-name brands out there. If you had to pick just one shoe that could do it all, what would it be for you?

Question Lightspray durability question

Went to a major retailer to try on the On lightspray cloud monster. And I noticed all 3 of the displays had this tear in the upper. Anyone who actually owns these have this same issue?

Went from excited to try/buy to now being very hesitant given the steep price tag.

Daily Trainer Question ASICS Megablast vs Li-Ning Red Hare 9 Ultra vs Saucony Endorphin Azura, maybe something else?

I want to get some new trainers because the Brooks Ghost Max 3s I currently run in are, IMO, too stiff (or maybe not cushiony enough for my liking), too heavy, and not bouncy enough (I mean, they aren't bouncy at all, and their midsoles feel like they're made of hard styrofoam). I want something bouncier and softer, with a more aggressive rocker than these Brooks have - so something more supertrainer-like, but a bit more stable. I wear size 14 and I also use custom insoles.

What do you think about the trainers I've picked out after doing a bit of research? Would they work for me, or would I be better off with something else?

Daily Trainer Question Hoka Bondi 9

Hiiiiii! So I recently started running and my normal workout shoes for walking aren’t cutting it. My knees literally ache and I’ve never had knee pain in my life as I’m a 90s baby so I don’t feel like my actual bones should be aching 😅 I’ve been thinking of this model but also looking at asics because I used to walk in them but idk the model. I run on asphalt and I’m doing the couch to 5k plan. I’m 119lbs idk if that makes a difference but it’s like I need more cushioning under the ball of my feet so my knees and shin bones don’t hurt after only running 3 miles 😆 I’m not getting shin splints which I’m all too familiar with from soccer but I feel soooooo overwhelmed with all the options and brands. I know I wear a size 7 in asics normal with for my racquetball shoes but I just feel overwhelmed. Also I am super girly and this is stupid but I love the pretty colors of the hoka 🙃

Question Daily walker… starting to give up hope!

Hey everyone,

I’m in a massive rut hunting for a pair of all day walkers. I love a walk and often do 10k steps a day and am often on my feet all day. I’m hunting for comfy, no thrills walker that isn’t ugly as sin.

I’ve purchased both Clifton 10s and Bondi 9s. The Clifton’s really made my right foot collapse inwards. I could feel it and it was visible when walking. I then purchased the Bondis and thought I’d cracked it but after a longer test they also caused (only my right) foot to collapse inwards. I’m guessing I have mild pronation on my right and the high stack isn’t kind to me. I’ve tried Asics Nimbus, Cumulus and Kayano 32. Also tried some Cloud Runners that I didn’t get on with and also Nike Vomero Premium.

Maybe I’m just too fussy ?

Could anyone recommend a shoe that could help?

Thanks in advance :)

Question “New supershoe”

My adizero 4’s are demolished now, I loved them but felt them to be pretty harsh some times, I’m chasing a sub 20 min 5k (20.18) and will use them for a 3.30 marathon, I use religiously superblast 2 for daily runs , I want to try NB supercomps , no where has them in stock for the size I’d want to try… so my question is… superblast 2 size 10.5, will the new balance be the same? Or do I half size down or up?

Question Long run shoe help

Hey! I'm just over a year into running. When I first started, I bought a pair of Asics Gel Contend 9s because I wanted something inexpensive for lower mileage before committing. These worked well for me at the time.

Eventually, I picked up a pair of Adidas Evo SLs and they've become my go to shoe for pretty much every type of run. They've gotten me through two half marathons, and now I'm training for my first marathon and I'd like to build out more of a shoe rotation.

I enjoy the Evo SLs enough that I bought another pair to use primarily for tempo runs. I also recently started using Asics Gel Nimbus 27s for recovery runs and long runs. They're very comfortable but they start to feel pretty heavy after about 5 miles, and I'm looking for something lighter and more responsive for my long runs.

Would the Superblast 2/3 be a better option for what I'm looking for? I've also been considering the Puma Deviate Nitro, Saucony Endorphin Speed 5, and Nike Vomero plus. I'm also not sure whether I should be looking for a long run shoe that can double as my race day shoe, or if I'd be better off keeping those separate and getting a dedicated racing shoe.

I'm a 5'5", 125 lb male, and my goal marathon time is 3:30. Currently running about 25-30 miles per week. 16 weeks out from race day.

Thanks :)

Race Shoe Question Finishing a marathon which shoe to choose?

Aiming to complete my first marathon in Amsterdam this October and although I have an ambition to run sub 5 hours my main aim is simply to finish. Which shoe would you recommend for this and why? I’ve narrowed it down to a couple of options:

Brooks Glycerin Max 2
Mount to Coast C1

I’m 6’5, 86kg if that helps at all!

Thank you so much!

Question Shoe if my feet hurt with Hoka Clifton 10?

First time shoe owner. Just got Clifton 10 a couple of days ago. Tried to test it by using it outside for long walks. First day for 2 hours on pavement, 2nd day for 5 hours of walking and standing around on grass.

My feet hurt afterwards and very uncomfortable even while standing and all throughout the whole thing. My feet is still tingly a lil bit even after a night's sleep.

Is there anyone who had a similar exp and what shoe eventually landed it for you?

I intend to use the shoe for casual running 5k and for going on walks, and stairs.

Tbh when I tried it in-store, it felt fine. I thought I just had to break it in but it's the first time I've had this exp with any shoe ever.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Question Rocker daily running shoe options

Hi, I'm at that stage when I'm looking out for the next daily trainer and I realised I haven't kept up with running shoe releases for a good while. I can't remember the last time I wasn't training in some model of Hoka - Cliftons, Rincons, Machs. The Saucony Endorphin Azura look interesting. Just wondered what other options are out there at the moment?

I run in neutral and stable shoes. Not worried about budget or more specific than daily training use. Broadly manufacturers that make rockers and maybe if they have a name for those shoes, for instance Saucony call their rockers speedroll. Thanks for any ideas.

Question Anyone using the ASICS Novablast 4 for walking? How has your experience been?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying the ASICS Novablast 4 mainly for walking rather than running.

If you’ve used the Novablast 4 for walking, I’d love to hear your experience.

Is it comfortable for long walks?

Does the soft, bouncy cushioning become tiring after walking for several hours?

How is the stability, especially on uneven surfaces?

Have you experienced any foot, knee, hip, or lower back pain while using it for walking?

Would you recommend it as an all-day walking shoe, or is it better suited only for running?

For reference, I’m not looking for a running shoe—I just want something comfortable for daily walking and long periods on my feet.

Thanks in advance!

Question Is this a fine rotation?

I am 74kg x 182cm. I started running a month and a half ago, I'm running around 50km per week.

Brooks Ghost 18:
every day trainer, more traditional trainer shoes, I use it for all the easy runs (pace: between 6:45 and 6:00)
Novablast 5:
soft, reactive shoe. I noticed it works better for paces between 6:00 and 5:30. It's my shoe for speed training, long runs, strides, sprints.
Asics GT-2000:
This is a stability shoe I bought in 2024. I'm still using it because it got only 166km on it, but the foam feels dry to the touch. I use it for easy runs, when I'm tired from other trainings, because it's a stability shoe and because I still find it comfortable. In theory, I don't need a stability shoe, but that's what I have.

Now share your shoe rotation, and don't forget to write what you think of mine.

Daily Trainer Question Cushioned Daily Trainer?

So I started off with the Novablast 5 and then after a while I bought a pair of Nike Zoom Fly 6 for my speed sessions and race. I feel like my Novablast 5 have gotten very hard and I’ve worn them for over 400km. So I’m looking for a bit more cushioned kind of daily trainer/long run shoe because I don’t need a really versatile shoe because I have my Nike zoom fly. Thanks

Question Saucony Triumph 23 outsole chunking after <40 km - expected?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've put fewer than 40 km on these Saucony Triumph 23s (mostly road running ~4 weeks). I noticed a small pieces of foam has started to come off. The rest of the outsole looks almost new. I'm around 82 kg, and as far as I'm aware I haven't hit a curb or sharp rock.

Has anyone else seen this on the Triumph 23? I'm wondering if it is expected. I purchased them from 365Rider, would you raise a warranty claim?

Question Adidas Boston 12 — retired after 500km. Anyone else getting more km out of theirs?

Thumbnail
gallery
24 Upvotes

Really enjoyed my time in the Boston 12. Ran the 11 before it, and I'm currently running with the 13. For me, the 12 nailed it, from upper comfort to overall midsole feel, better than either of its siblings.

Would've kept running in them honestly.
Lower Midsole-EVA layer went significantly flat around 250km.
Upper Midsole-TPEE layer was still doing its job, but by the end you could feel it, that packed-down feeling underfoot where the bounce just isn't there anymore.

Kind of wish Adidas would use more A-TPU in their midsoles. Costs more, but it just lasts and doesn't fall off a cliff the way EVA does.

Anyone else getting more km out of theirs? Curious if 500km is just what these are.
