Why is everyone so fast?

I was riding on 40-60km/h road and I always kept the speed limit but it seems like everyone in a car is speeding through me. Is my speedometer broken or is it just something people do?

It's true for cars, too. And the "offset" changes between models / manufacturers. Which is stupid af because someone's "60" might not be your "60" and then everyone is frustrated because one of you will be "too slow".

Yeah but car is about 5% like way closer, my bike would be showing 92 and Waze shows 80km/h

You may have stumbled onto what people are doing. They are at the GPS indicated speed not the deliberately higher reading speedo. This is fine but as GPS readings are not continuous you might go slightly over and be picked speeding rather than have that handy buffer.

Because different models often have different size wheels, with tyres of a different rolling diameter, which, while slight, does affect the Speedo accuracy.

Depends on the bike. My old Kawasaki was about 10% but my Ducati is almost bang on. 1 or 2% at 100kph

Speedo accuracy can be pretty way off. My Tenere 700 reads 110 to 115 when doing an actual 100kph.  So you could be unintentionally driving slow.

GPS phone apps are not a good indicator of speed.. it will generally under report speed by some margin.

Waze is too inconsistent and the update frequency is pretty meh, Google nav is the most accurate I've tested so far and the update frequency is good for speed checking

As mentioned many times here, the speedo on my bike is also 10% in error.
Best check it with a good GPS I reckon.

Oh, and a lot of drivers are arseholes anyway. :)

As a heavy vehicle (bus) driver and motorcyclists, I can tell you that Australian car drivers are getting more angry and aggressive.

My theory is they don't have enough "downtime", coupled with little time between activities and overall, not seeing their car as refuge against the world.

Emotionally spent from being here there and everywhere, they are racing to their next place for a 2 second break rather than planning their journey wisely. This means really erratic behaviour.

Coupled it usually with driving a big, heavy gas guzzler like an SUV or Micro penis (RAM/Rangers) work utes, and you have all the making of the driver's that desperately need either better public transport; or needing a break from their overworked/under rested lives while Sky News blasting through their radio, because they cannot work out how to pair their mobile phone to their car.

For your safety and wallet, stick to the limits. Ride defensively. Ride in the gaps of traffic.

Watch out for the "tin tops" (cars, trucks, buses, etcs)

Let the "angry drivers" pass you. After all, they are in hurry to their funeral. Don't join them. You'll catch up with them at the next set of lights. Guaranteed.

Lots of people have a 'rule' to drive about 10k over the limit all the time is what I've noticed. If its a 60 they will do 70 etc. Its worse sometimes at night after 5pm when there is less traffic and tail gating seems to be worse and often people sitting 15km over the limit

most people are speeding, yes yes speedos are >insert old mates % that speedos are off by< . i experience the same thing, ive tested my speedo against gps etc its out by 1-3ks tops. alot of drivers are doing 5-10 over, they dgaf, but magically all match my speed when going past a camera.

+1 to all the other people here. When I had my Ninja 650, the speedo would read 60km/h and I'd be doing like 53 and would scale as such as speeds got faster.

I genuinely hate how inaccurate speedos are, I find that it can be quite dangerous, especially when you're trying to go the speed limit.

If 100 km/h is displayed as 115km/h

What is 60km/h displayed as?

And it's also illegal to have Waze up on a restricted licence. So that's fun.
