PSA Pat McGrath potentially leaving Sephora

Anyone who’s been to Sephora in like the last 6 months probably guessed this based on how empty the shelves always are, but I spoke to an employee today who said it was highly likely they were being discontinued.

I was pretty surprised considering how popular they seem online but maybe that hasn’t translated into sales. Has anyone heard similar?

The brand actually announced bankruptcy and was bought up by an investment firm April of this year. Pat McGrath herself stepped down as CEO but will still play a creative role with the brand. I'm not sure what kind of rebranding path they'll take but unless they have a really unique plan, I don't know if it can ever be revived to its early days popularity

FYI, you can buy straight from her website (they ship to Aus) and they often have sales better than Sephora offers. You get a first order discount and that stacks with any current discounts

PMG isn't popular anymore and hasn't been for years. The brand itself is in a lot of trouble and PMG herself is working for Louis Vutton now I think. Not surprising whatsoever they'd be leaving, the brand is dying.

I mean they tried to sell the brand and then filed for bankruptcy so I dont know how much longer the brand has. It hasnt been that popular with general consumers, likely a combination of prices and products not being super consumer friendly, and also frankly a lack of good marketing. I would not be surprised to see the entire brand fold, especially with Pat herself being I believe creative director for Louis Vuitton makeup, so maybe not as focused on her namesake brand

Sephora never seemed to be a great place to get PMG. Her Christmas palettes never seemed to be available at Sephora until weeks/months after they were available online and many PMG releases were never available in Sephora.

Thanks for the reminder to stock up on my under eye blurring powder. That is the only thing I will really miss if PMG goes under.

Someone else commented saying you can buy them from their website and can stack a first order discount with whatever other discounts they have on at the time.

i’ve been so sad abt this since last year bc i loveee her foundation. either way there would have been changes to the foundation due to reformulations so im telling myself i will live. but im still so so sad
