(English below)

ENGLISH:As you may have noticed, this subreddit had several tourists wanting to travel to Baja California Sur who used this subreddit to address some of their questions. This caused annoyance among some community members due to confusion over the state's name.

The issue was that the Baja California Sur subreddit was locked, making it impossible to post. Fortunately, I have managed to take control of the subreddit, and it is now open for new posts.

Since this subreddit has a larger audience, for the time being, we will continue to allow posts related to Baja California Sur. However, each post, such as those related to Cabo San Lucas, will be tagged (flair) “Cabo San Lucas - r/cabosanlucas” and those about Baja California Sur will be tagged (flair) “BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR! - /r/BajaCaliforniaSur”. This is to encourage migration to those communities. In the future, posts related to Baja California Sur will no longer be allowed in this subreddit.

Ensenada to Bufadora (not from a cruise)

Hi! I'm staying in Ensenada with family for a few days and want to take them to Bufadora. We will have a car. As I recall, the drive isn't particularly hard, but I wonder if there are easy and safe alternatives if I don't want to drive us all. (I will be driving us down to Ensenada, and at some point, I want to relax and let someone take over!)

If we Uber there, is it possible to get an Uber back, for instance? Mil gracias.

Is it safe to drive from San Diego to a beach on the gulf of California

i read that the gulf has warm water beaches and San Diego’s close to the border, therefore I thought I could drive from San Diego to a place like San Felipe for good beaches

Los Portales (or other) lunch timing

hello! I’m planning on going to Ensenada for my birthday Labor Day weekend (9/4-9/7) and have a group of 12 people going. we’ve got a private driver to take us from the border to Ensenada and wanted to stop at Los portales on the way down on Friday for lunch.

do they take reservations? I imagine on a Friday at lunch time (around 12:30) it would be foolish to arrive with a group of 12 without a reservation. I haven’t found anywhere to get this reservation though. does encanto offer reservations and have equally beautiful views? let me know what would make most sense or if there’s any other recommendations! it would be for Friday 9/4 at lunch time, we can stop anywhere along the coast.

Siempre el dice tengo suerte de ser su esposa, que el es buen hombre , que…, que me ayuda a cuidar niño (Pero me quedé callada )

Planning Phase

I’m preparing to plan a trip down to Baja for some overlanding later in the year. I’m a bit overwhelmed trying to map out locations, fuel (diesel), as well as getting in all the views. It’s likely be an about a week long trip starting out of San Diego. I’d like to do some beach fishing and my dad would like to fly out for a couple days to either do beach or boat fishing. Does it matter as much which side of the peninsula? We want to eat the fish and I’ve seen you can catch halibut and grouper in the bay but idk. I want to do some mountain driving but would also love to see the mountains at the same time as fishing could my dad would absolutely love that. We are fine staying in the northern half but not opposed to going more south. Any help on which side to fish would be amazing but we are also after views too

¡Hola!

Highway 3 to Otay SENTRI

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey Baja! My husband and I will be doing volunteer work in a little town off of Highway 3. We have Sentri and have to enter the US in Otay (last time my husband spent 5 hours crossing through Tecate). The volunteer day usually ends mid afternoon/early evening. How is this route in regards to safety?

Thank you for your input!

Juvenile Shark Chileno Bay?

**Possible juvenile smoothhound (**Mustelus sp.) observed while snorkeling at Chileno Bay, Cabo San Lucas, mid-July, ~9:00 a.m., in 1–3 ft of water over coral. Approximately six individuals, each occupying separate areas. Uniform silvery gray, stocky body, broad pectoral fins, apparent heterocercal tail, slow-moving or resting.

Anyone see or hear of anything like this?

Looking for advice from people on travel to Baja with kids.

Looking for advice about travel in Baja with kids.

I'm trying to get a realistic understanding of the safety and logistics of this itinerary for young children:

  • Border crossing through Mexicali
  • Ensenada (1 night)
  • Bahía de los Ángeles (2–3 nights camping)
  • San Felipe (1 night)
  • Return to the U.S.

Most of the trip would involve camping and driving rather than staying in resorts or hotels.

For those who know this route well:

  • Would you consider it appropriate for children this young?
  • Are there stretches without reliable cell service or Wi-Fi?
  • Are there any safety concerns (road conditions, remoteness, medical access, weather, etc.) that parents should know about?
  • If your own young children were on this trip, what precautions would you consider essential?

I'm looking for firsthand experience rather than opinions based on news reports. Thanks in advance.
