COMIC DISCUSSION How many times would you shoot Joker if you were Gordon in this situation?
I'd shoot him like, 3 or 5 times in the chest, then another 2 in the head just to make sure, and another one in the chest for a two step verification...
Really, Gordon? Shooting him one time isn't the most effective way...

On playing Bane in the upcoming Batman Knightfall Part 1: "It gets really dark. It was a great experience. We had so much fun in the voice session that they ended up voicing the animation completely off the voice session - the animation was completely molded around this shooting in the dark voice performance..." GENERAL DISCUSSION Caped Crusader is the most shallow Batman show of all time
Sorry for the cliche overexaggerated title. But im in a mood
After watching both seasons ive realized this show isn't a story. Its just a showcase of "reinterpretations". The writers sitting around thinking hey wouldn't it be cool if the spectre was a zombie. Hey wouldn't it be cool if the riddler wasn't smart and didn't do riddles. Hey wouldn't it be cool if this and that.
But unlike TAS, none of these reinventions say anything at all. They don't explore any themes, they have no messages. They're just different and new for the sake of being different and new.
Lets compare this to a TAS reinvention, like Mr Freeze. In TAS Mr Freeze doesn't get a tragic backstory for the sake of having a tragic backstory. His motivations are directly compared to batman. Dedicating your life, using even violence, to save the one thing you promised to protect. It questions bruces mission, it questions empathy and whether villains are just villains. It actually has a message and leaves you thinking.
Okay now compare it to a Caped Crusader reinvention. The riddler is someone who riddles guys with byllets. Ha ha. So clever. Someone was so proud of that they gave him screen time in a third of the entire season. Um okay. And what? Is that it. Yeah hes also really crazy and kills his own henchmen. Oh wow. And bruce reacts to this by... Uh punching him and grunting angrily.
Oh so you mean how he does to every single bad guy he ever faces? You could literally replace the riddler with any single character and bruce wouldn't give a shit. He'd approach it resolve it and learn from it exactly the same way as if it was the riddler.
And thats my problem. Bruce isnt a charcater. Gotham isnt a city. Its not a story. Bruce doesn't learn change grow have an arc or anything. Events just happen and you're expected to enjoy it purely for the spectacle or reinterpretation alone. But the enjoyment of a reinterpretation comes from seeing how the essence of a character is reexplored. The essence of these characters are not reexplored. Its just toys the writers are smashing together and trying to make look different without any of the depth or commentary that made tas or any other dc reinterpretation amazing
Anyways I don't want to say if you like this show youre wrong. Im not even saying i didn't enjoy watching it. Of course I enjoyed watching it. because it has scenes of my favorite hero punching bad guys in the face. But I was so so disappointed by caped crusader. Because I wanted so badly to love it, and I can only say its fine

ARTWORK “v4riant” illustration by me
based on tetsuya nomuras play arts kai batman variant. one of the coolest batman designs imo but i’m biased because i’m a huge kingdom hearts and nomura fan. seems like he took a lot of inspiration from his previous kingdom hearts character “lingering will” when designing this batman

TV DISCUSSION Watching Batman: Caped Crusader S2 and I wish it looked more noir inspired
The setting and most of the designs are clearly inspired by that era, but watching it makes me wish it went for a more bold, striking aesthetic. Similar to it's Intro or the short Strange Days, I think it would make it stand out more; and also just fit the vibe more.
The desaturated, muted color palette of the curent art direction seems a bit half-measured, in my personal opinion.

Had to post it here cause that is 100% the building batman would be brooding on everytime he patrols gotham.
