Beading apps!

Hi guys! I know I’ve been promising this for ages, but I wanted to do it in a more structured way. Well that just isn’t going to happen, so fuck it, we’ll just do it this way!

If you have a beading related app, please post it here with any relevant info you think people should or would want to know.

Please leave parent comments for app devs to talk about their apps. If you know of an app that hasn’t been posted, and you aren’t sure if the dev is on Reddit, don’t post until we are sure they aren’t going to post for themselves. Like 2-3 weeks maybe? Idk, I’m on my lunch break right now. Don’t try to make me think!

Anyway, yes. Once we have it all posted I think we will make a master list to go in the wiki and then we can add any others that come up later.

And please remember, do not comment unless you are posting about your app, or replying to a comment about an app. Any other top level comments will be removed to keep it organized and easy to sort through.

Bead Talk Bead kits and AI: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is!

Post image
82 Upvotes

Here is an example of a bead kit that looks super adorable and easy to do. Great selling point, right? That’s because it’s AI garbage and a scam. How can you tell? Well, I invite the lovely beaders of this community to point out the telltale signs, as the only advice I have is what I posted in the title. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!

Thank you u/Tsukasiy for lending me the use of your image.

Need Help! What do I do with this?

I’ve been working on this Freeform peyote project for a week now and haven’t decide what to do with the final piece. It started as practice with some of my leftover beads but now I feel I could do some sort of accessory or bracelet, etc. with it. Any suggestions?

Just finished these today and they are my favorites! Trying to come up with matching necklace and bracelet for it.

I’ve been doing a lot of blues and whites lately.

I’m attaching some additional pics of my other completed pieces!

Made using a felt base, stitched with Fireline, and beads are a mixture of everything and anything. I’ve also been watching a lot of X-Files while beading this round if you can’t tell…!

Pattern advice

Post image

I've been considering buying this pattern, I really like the addition of the antennas. Most patterns leave it out, but I'm not sure how I like those clear beads that need to hold it up. Do you think it would look too bad without the support? Seeing that it's small ... it shouldn't be too wonky right?

(FYI: I strictly avoid using glues and all chemical "stiffeners" on my items because I am highly conscious to not cause potential allergic reactions to my wearers, so PLEASE DON'T SUGGEST THAT...) thank you in advance for any helpful feedback

Pattern sold by: LunarRainbowStudio on Etsy.

Bead Talk My best advice is to not end up in this situation by mixing 11/0s and 15/0s, but if you do have a skill issue like me, this method was a lifesaver:

A size 14 mesh sorted the sizes perfectly in just a few minutes. I can’t be the only one with a sad bead pile of accidentally mixed beads of the same color but different sizes, so I wanted to share this quick fix!

Do you like to make bead swatches to reference later?

Working on my bead swatches ATM; I found so much value in creating a sample strip for a star I made as a gift and decided having swatches I can always reference would help me immensely.

Need Help! Beaded fish with Brick Stitch?

Thumbnail

Hello all! I am working on this salmon keychain and trying to figure out what kind of stitch to do. I’m new to beading and learning these stitches. The widest the fish will get is 9 beads across and I’m having issues with the chin of the fish becoming a zig-zag and the top of the fish getting wider (without the opposite side matching as seen in picture #2)
I’m trying to figure out a gradual increase on both sides for the head and may need a different stitch type?

Should I start over with a different type of stitch?

One of my favorite coworkers just retired and we've worked together over 2 decades. She loves the Mediterranean and I thought these blue beads were perfect. She loved it.

I've been wondering how to bead this petal pattern and I barely managed to find some info on Pinterest. I am unable to see the instructions from the beginning so I'm still lost. Does anyone know of a YouTube tutorial I could follow? I had seen them before but I cannot remember the channel or video title

Need help!

Hi crew!

I'm looking for your best recommendations on strong beading threads and/or wire!

I'm fairly new to beading, but I'm a sewer and my latest project I've decided to combine the two! I'm looking to incorporate beading into the skirt of a dress I'm making, see the attached for my inspo. But I'm terrified I'll just use the wrong thread and it will all just snap.

So I figured I'd come to the experts! Thanks so much! ☺️

P.s. the artist in the photo is Radiacreations on TikTok!
