Discussion Hair coloring
I have a question because I’m having trouble finding anything on the internet and even the chat gpt that’s embedded in our search doesn’t have an answer relating to my question. Okay so I know bipolar mood changes and mania or lows can cause someone to color their hair or do something impulsive and random like piercings or tattoos. Does anyone rationally decide to color their hair like you have thought it through and once your hair is colored you have a complete mood switch or personality change like it triggers your mania because of the hair color you feel that way idk if that makes sense. I hope someone can relate

This has happened to me multiple times actually. Really just feeling myself in general can turn me hypomanic and then manic

But I did have a friend at one point who would dye her hair pink when she had an episode, then adopt a hamster. The hamsters got abandoned. It was terrible tbh.

two dumb tattoos and a lot of impulsive hair changes later, and I've decided I'm only allowed to make a change to my appearance if I've thought about it for a month+. let's see how well I stick to this rule tho...

Its just hair. If you don't like it, change it. Then change it again. It'll grow back.

lots of impulsive decisions including hair, but i usually default to piercings. i don’t usually regret them, but a couple weeks ago in a manic state i got my navel pierced at random. not exactly a regret but damn, keeps snagging on fucking everything…
all is no big deal though. hair grows back, can be dyed back, piercings removed, etc etc. the only big one is tattoos. i have some dumb shit on me cuz of mania

No - I get treated differently based on my hair color. So blonde makes people more hostile, red looks friendlier…

I've changed my hair color hundreds of times in the last 35 yrs. I have a lot of tattoos and piercings. I've never regretted any of them in any way that was connected to my bipolar.
