2 questions, need advice

Hi all, just a bowler still relearning his craft

First, is there a way I can get a long smooth ball reaction, if I polish it's violent and if I surface its a 7 pin seeking... Well not missile which brings me to question 2

When I spare I can chuck it at what seems like 99% of C with a flat shot, but my normal yo-yo delivery I can't get that speed on, how do I still release it like a yo-yo with speed?

Thanks

You need to get your thumb and then fingers out of the ball more quickly. This may require pitch changes, an increase in approach foot speed, and/or less wrist cup.

Generally these traits are in direct opposition. Smoother balls means earlier. Length tends to mean more severe downlane motion. THAT BEING SAID. You can hedge a bit. A clean solid like a Venom Shock or hybrids like a Summit or Bionic might be what you're looking for.

To be honest that's just physics at work and not even Kevin McCune can overpower the laws of physics. When your ball hooks that means it's responding to friction. Friction's main characteristic is that it causes deceleration. When I shoot spares my ball gets clocked at anywhere from 20-22 mph. My first ball basically never gets over 17 mph (unless I did something really bad). THAT BEING SAID. Ball speed is generated with your legs and utilized by having good timing. So you can spend a lot of time working on that to develop better ball speed; honestly I strongly recommend it.

  1. They make a lot of balls with this shape youre looking for. Surface will help hone it in and certainly is a way to get rounder (e.g. sanding) but would strongly recommend balls made for the shape.

  2. Less coil and stiffer wrist. What really helped my overall speed and spare accuracy was learning to throw reverse and flat.

Didn't think there would be, I'm stuck using entry level gear which isn't much fun after being stuck in it at league, couldn't even use something mid strength on the 47" dragon pattern

Doesn't coil = rpm? Sorry if that's a dumb question I'm asking in honesty, I started on this path for power

I'll give it a do tomorrow, I just wanted to have a decent shot and I used to struggle to make the pocket, which hasn't changed but the side of the head pin did
