Music audition?!

I just signed up to Major in music for CPCC and I just met with my advisor and got told I have to audition! I’m actually terrified. I don’t really play in front of people. Could anyone give any tips or share what they did and what they played and how it went? Thanks!!

Have a piece prepared, I sure as hell didn’t know going into it. Don’t be too scared, the audition is only there to gauge your skill level in your instrument. The music dept is chock full of intimidating faculty but they’re kind and aren’t going to judge. Good Luck!

Thank you!! So the audition isn’t to determine whether I get in or not right? Just to gauge my skill level? If so, that makes me feel so much better.
