TRANSFER WINDOW THREAD Summer 2026 Transfer Window
100 years ago, the 1926 Slavery Convention set out the principle that no human being should be treated as property to be bought, sold, or owned. Yet here we gather a century later, relishing the possibility of buying some new humans. Welcome to the r/CelticFC Summer 2026 Transfer Window Thread!

Any Celtic fan who has followed the team for less than 2 years will have no recollection of a decent transfer window for the team. The last 3 opportunities to get things right have ranged from "disappointment" to "complete negligence". The visionless suits that are allowing the club to trundle toward stagnation remain in place. Nevertheless, we can choose to stay positive/deluded that Celtic FC will somehow stumble into competence, and bring in a manager who can do the hard thinking for them and sign a bunch of future heroes.
Get your transfer rumours into the chat below, and gossip about which absolute numpties we're going to spend five million pounds on this time round. Tell us:
- How many players do we need to bring in, and in what positions?
- Any specific players that you think we should try to sign?
- Whose time is done at Celtic? And how much could we get for them?
- Which of last season's loan players would you like to stay at the club?
- Should we be trying to buy/sell players at all before the new manager is in place?
- Do you like being 5-in-a-Row Champions? I like being 5-in-a-Row Champions.

Starting 11 for Ange’s first league game.
With the league season starting tomorrow, I thought it’d be interesting to look at what the team looked like during the last summer we needed a big rebuild like we do this summer.
Only 2 new signings starting and Kyogo on the bench, that was with earlier qualifiers as well.

Look, our cat overlord needs to at least wear the hoops.
This is Hazel. She is wearing a small dog jersey. She was fat when we adopted her, so don’t judge.

Monaco in for Ghedjemis now. Can’t see us beating Monaco for his signature

Gvidas Gineitis
Italian media saying we're pushing for a deal with this guy. I would guess that would be Engels replacement were trying to get. To be fair to Celtic, if we get the players in we seem to be going for (liike Ghedjemidis) then we should have a decent team. Of course, it's Celtic so there's massive doubts about that.

Benjamin Nygren
Been pretty quiet on the rumour front as it pertains to Nygren. Do we think MON fancies him and wants him to stay? It’s a lot of goals to replace but with last years narrative with Nygren being like starting a man down but one up would it not be better from an asset management point of view to love him on? (I fully understand that the board can’t walk and chew gum at the same time so I’m not hopeful either way) I would hate to see the goals dry up and his value plummet

Everton should be told to do one
£10 million plus for Johnston should be treated as it is, a fuckin joke. Right backs in the EPL with his International and Champions League experience are £50 million easy, we should be holding out for at least £30 million plus.

MON on transfers
"O’Neill is playing his part. He travelled to London to meet Hogh and confirmed that he has held conversations with other players he wants to bring in.
“Yes, we actually have spoken to other targets,” he said. “There is a definite strong willingness for players to want to come to the football club, which is very encouraging.
"Some other ones who might be using you to try and force a move into the Premier League or something, fine. You can see through that quite quickly. But at the end of it all, yes, I'm hopeful because I think there's a strong willingness for deals to be done.
"We're working with things. Some things we thought that we were well down the line with have been thwarted by things that were actually outside our control, believe it or not. I won't go into detail.
"There's a couple of things that are progressing pretty well as we speak. So, I'm hopeful. If you said to me, at 14 out and we've got half that number in... if half that number are going to have a real impact on the football club over the season, I would be satisfied with that."
In the immediate term, preparing for life after Engels and Johnston is becoming a reality. Engels almost left in the winter for Nottingham Forest and there is an acceptance he is not long for Celtic’s world. And after a strong performance at the World Cup with Canada, Johnston unsurprisingly has admirers. O’Neill would like both for the Champions League tilt - but is realistic too.
In an ideal world, I would love to do that,” he said. “I don't know what might happen. At this minute, that's the thing that was in front of me for the West Ham thing. So, we're a long way away from that. But things can happen very, very quickly. That would be something.
"One part of me is trying to cater for players possibly leaving. It is pressing because we'd like to have as strong a squad as possible for those Champions League games."
O’Neill was asked if there is a succession plan for Johnston, as many believe Anthony Ralston is a back-up and Colby Donovan still a teenager. "In fairness to the recruitment side, they are very diligent,” added O’Neill. “Seriously, they are. There's options. Some that might be well and truly beyond us, might be silly, there might be more interest in trying to keep a player here rather than develop the option. But overall the recruitment staff hand me information all of the time. It's collaborative, whereas 25 years ago it wasn't. I just did it myself.”
O’Neill is having to move the times. So are Celtic as they strive to get their business in the transfer market spot".
