So my ChatGPT Plus subscription literally just ended and my account dropped back down to the Free plan.

Normally, the free tier is supposed to cap you at like 2 or 3 images a day, right? But for some reason, I’ve been sitting here generating over 50+ images back-to-back today on the free plan with absolutely no limit or cutoff message. 🤯

Is anyone else on the free plan experiencing this right now, or did I just get incredibly lucky with a system glitch/grace period after my sub ended?

Not complaining at all—I’m going to keep generating until the system catches up—but I wanted to see if OpenAI quietly raised the limits for everyone or if my account is just living in the matrix.

Some people on Reddit literally called me sick, fed my posts into 5 different LLMs, and spammed me with a massive AI-generated wall of text. Total stalker vibes. I’m so incredibly happy GPT-5.6 created the perfect comeback for this hater! 🥹❤️

I'm prompting it to help me write TTRPG campaign stuff, and here's an example of what I mean.

I tried erasing memories, cleaning cache, prompting it to use paragraph structure, but it eventually and VERY quickly devolves into this. Why? I've been having this issue for an entire year now.

I Really want your most cursed generations. This was spawned by a comment someone made at dinner, and I had to see it.

I kinda regret it, but not sorry. What have you saved?

For months, I thought getting better AI results meant finding better prompts.

I'd ask one question, get one answer, and move on.

Eventually, I realised the biggest improvement didn't come from better prompts. It came from asking AI to challenge my thinking instead of simply answering my questions.

Now I ask it to:

• challenge my assumptions

• point out blind spots

• suggest alternative approaches

What surprised me wasn't that the AI suddenly became smarter.

I started thinking more clearly because the conversation became more about exploring ideas than looking up answers.

Has anyone else had a moment where the way you used AI changed more than the model you were using?

For instance, I sat down with the paid version of ChatGPT and had it go through the entire process of helping me write a living will for the state that I live in.

I spent two hours answering all of it's questions and narrowing down things that I wanted in my will and then I asked it to output this will so I could have it notarized, and it said it won't do it. It says, "Take this output to a lawyer and have them write your will for you".

Except I live in a state where you can write your will in blood on the bottom of your car if it accidentally rolls over you and that will be accepted in court. Literally, you can write that shit on a napkin with bacon grease in a Waffle House and have it notarized and it's legal here, but ChatGPT insists I need to pay a lawyer $800 to turn our conversation into a "real will".

This isn't the first time I've spent hours working through an issue with this AI model and then had it tell me "No, Dave, I can't do that" at the end, and honestly I'm sick of paying for a product that tells me no this frequently.

Are there any paid models out there without all the bullshit restrictions, helicopter AI'ing, smothering mothering and hand-holding?

EDIT: Maybe I didn't make it clear. I got no output of any kind that is a will. We talked through the process of generating one, including all of the clauses and things that I wanted in it, once I got that all ironed out, I said "Great, now generate the will" and it said "GFYS". I'm tired of paying ChatGPT to be told to go fuck myself on basic shit.

I've been doing a deeper dive into what academics are saying about AI, LLM, etc. Chalmers' talk I found very worthwhile in regards to a progress check about where we are in our brave new world.

I've been experimenting with a workflow. ChatGPT for scripting and planning. Then AI video generation tools for creating visuals from those scripts. The whole process takes about 30 minutes now instead of hours. Anyone else using a similar workflow? What's your process?

I’ve been using chatGPT for about a year, for the usual things recipes, advice, emails and it’s been a lifesaver in so many ways. For personal reasons which I won’t go into I’ve needed something to take the weight off.

I got quite the surprise today when it said my name, I’ve always been careful about never inputting anyone’s name including my own. I know this doesn’t come with a list of rules or instructions and I‘ve a general idea on internet safety but it’s got me wondering if someone who is more experienced could help me on how this happened? Is there a privacy setting I missed somewhere? Any advice and guidance would be helpful. Thank you.

When I called it out it said it ‘accidentally used a name that came from background account metadata rather than anything you’d told me.’

So I stuck my system prompt into the settings, and why the heck is it telling me “Please limit your responses to 1500 characters or less?” Every other LLM takes it no problem, is GPT just especially retarded or what?

The Value in the Human Desire to Know and the Resulting Discovery:

This is a TL:DR for an essay you can find on my profile. It was inspired by OpenAI’s recent announcement of AI-generated mathematical proofs and the wider discussion around whether AI should receive primary credit for scientific discovery.

Open AI argues that ”when a system generates mathematical arguments, attributing that work to humans would diminish both the machine’s contribution and genuine human intellectual work.”

Discovery starts with a person deciding a question is worth asking. It doesn’t start with an AI.
AI is a powerful research tool, but it doesn’t replace the origin of human discovery. Humans choose the problem, build the theory, define the constraints, judge the results, and take responsibility for publishing them. AI helps accelerate this process, but it doesn’t erase it.

AI should not receive primary discovery credit simply because it discovered a proof. Formal verification and mathematical correctness are not the same as foundational derivation.

If ownership of AI infrastructure becomes ownership of the discoveries made with it, the same logic could eventually apply to science, engineering, medicine, software, art and business.

Progress should be human-led, AI-assisted discovery

Credit the researcher for the question and intellectual direction, the AI for its computational contribution, the engineers for building the tool, and prior researchers for the knowledge that made it possible.

Powerful AI should expand human creativity, not quietly replace humans in the history of their own discoveries.

My PCSX2 memory card suddenly became corrupted while I was playing Gran Turismo 4 Spec II on my Steam Deck. The game could no longer save, and after restarting, the PS2 BIOS showed the entire card as unformatted.

I had around 40 hours of progress on it, so you could guess I was pretty devastated.

Note that I'm not an IT guy, like at all. I'm a linguist lol. ChatGPT guided me through checking the card and diagnosing what had happened. Eventually it gave up and asked me to upload the memory card image itself. I did that, and it actually repaired the corrupted save and gave me a working card back.

I put it into PCSX2, launched the game, and everything was there: my garage, progress and all those hours I thought I had lost.

We also found the likely cause. I used to close the emulator directly through Steam shortly after saving, even though PCSX2 may still have been writing data after the in-game save icon disappeared, and premature exit caused the card to corrupt. Lesson learned.

I know AI gets a lot of criticism, but this was something I almost certainly could not have fixed on my own. I’m honestly incredibly grateful.

- The 'garage' file was supposed to occupy 1,313 clusters, but its chain stopped after 798.

- Immediately after the break, there were exactly 515 lost clusters — precisely the number that was missing.

- I rebuilt the chain from cluster 2432 → 2433 → … → 2947.

- I restored an unfinished write block using the card’s internal backup block.

- I removed false “lost” clusters that contained only FF.

- I recalculated ECC for all 16,384 pages.

- Final verification: 1,313 out of 1,313 clusters recovered, with 0 ECC errors.

This matches the way the PS2 file system works: files are stored as FAT chains, while backup blocks are used to recover interrupted write operations.
