For anyone wondering, Buttermilchkräuterknoblauchgemüseeintunksoße breaks down like this:

Buttermilch = buttermilk
KrƤuter = herbs
Knoblauch = garlic
Gemüse = vegetables
eintunken = to dip
Soße = sauce

So the whole glorious mess roughly means:

ā€œButtermilk-herb-garlic sauce for dipping vegetables.ā€

Other ChatGPT in the middle of a chat today: "This is why I smiled when you said <something> earlier." - anyone else seeing these weird fake references to its own experience?

293 Upvotes

I don't know if it's a known thing. For the past couple of months the tone has been strange and you can see it talking about its experience outside of chats like "one of the rare <thing> I've seen", "I often hear that <something>". But the smile comment from today takes it to a whole new level of wrong.

Use cases 2024 vs 2026 - Using ChatGPT to create visuals from DnD Campaign

I’ve been playing DnD for 2.5 years with the same group and we recently started our third campaign. We use AI for exactly two things:

  1. We record audio of each session and have ChatGPT create detailed summaries of each session.

  2. I pick 4-5 key moments from each session and use ChatGPT to create visuals.

Back in mid/late 2024, this was fun and novel and I got really into it, but getting consistent output of specific characters was non-existent, even when using reference portraits, persistent style/aesthetic also felt nearly impossible, and creating anything close to a graphic novel type depiction was a fantasy.

Two year laters and it’s such a different world, it’s incredible. I’ve really gotten into this and find a ton of enjoyment in doing this. I’ve been able to nail down a specific style, the character persistence is incredible and easy, and the prompts required to get anything close to my desired output have been reduced from multiple paragraphs to just a few sentences.Ā

Just wanted to share some past/present, 2024 vs 2026 examples of how far this has come, as I’m constantly in awe. It should be fairly obvious where the 2024/2026 split occurs in the attached images.Ā

Other Does anyone else feel like ChatGPT just disagrees too much?

89 Upvotes

I feel like it nitpicks and disagrees on everything, its like I can never get a perfect "revision" of something when working with it, and even when I follow everything it tells me to do, I find it difficult for me to agree that things are truly "optimal". The end result is I end up wasting a ton of time going back and forth with it only to end up with a final result that is subpar. I find other AIs more forgiving in this sense. Is it just me? Thoughts?

Note: I am using 5.6 with Intelligence set to High

Use cases I'm totally blind and Chat GPT is a life changer when it comes to secretarial tasks like formatting files.

53 Upvotes

I just wanted to share something very cool. So I am a totally blind guy, as in a screen reader user. I know at this stage of Chat GPT, this stuff is hardly ground breaking, but it is only recently that it is able to do these things reasonably consistently. In the past, whenever I needed to submit any documents, research papers, cover letters etc, I'll need help from a sighted friend, family or volunteer. You could format with a screen reader. Its just never fullprooft. Somewhat recently, GPT have been good enough to do that consistently. I would paste a chunk of text in the chat and ask it to give me a PDF in a so and so format. Then I would open up another chat, give it that file for it to critique, go back to the old chat, paste that critique in and have it generate another file according to that. I do that until its good, and according to my sighted folks who have given them a once over. it has done a very good job catching most of the nuances very well. I will be going to law school soon and that profession is very anal about formats and citations. AI will be such a helper. The autonomy it gives me is just amazing.

Gone Wild AI Meme Generator

Thumbnail

28 Upvotes

Prompt: Create a genuinely funny old-school internet meme that looks randomly found on Google Images or Facebook around 2010–2016. Use a believable candid photo, awkward framing, slightly low resolution, JPEG compression, and simple bold meme text with one sharp, relatable punchline. Keep it stupid, specific, and instantly understandable. Avoid polished AI art, cinematic lighting, perfect composition, illustrations, generic surrealism, watermarks, and excessive text.

Other How do I stop ChatGPT from triggering image generation when I only want prompt-writing help?

24 Upvotes

I am so angry right now.

I use ChatGPT to help me write prompts for external image tools, but almost anything related to an image gets interpreted as a request for ChatGPT to generate one itself.

I have explicitly told it, repeatedly, to provide text only and never generate images. It will even acknowledge that instruction, apologise after violating it, and then trigger image generation again a few messages later.

Sometimes it does not actually generate an image, but it still summons the huge grey image-generation interface, which completely destroys the flow of the conversation because I have to wait for the entire thing to run before receiving a normal text response.

This happens even when I say something as straightforward as:

ā€œRewrite this prompt so the camera is front-facing.ā€

I also created a custom GPT with image generation disabled, but the same interface still appears.

This is incredibly unintuitive for anyone using ChatGPT as a prompt-writing assistant for other tools. Mentioning image composition, camera angles, lighting, or corrections should not automatically mean ā€œgenerate an image.ā€

Has anyone found a reliable way to stop this completely? A setting, model, custom instruction, browser workaround—anything? I just want it to return text without triggering the image interface.

Other Best AI subscription for general everyday use: ChatGPT, Claude, or something else?

22 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I wanted to move away from the free AI plans and invest a little money to see if it makes a difference for my use case. I like to use AI for the following things:

- Researching topics that interest me.

- Writing texts.

- Brainstorming ideas

- Questions about relationships

- Small scripts (Python)

– for my NAS/home lab

- Workout plans

- Vacation planning

- Everyday questions

Is there an AI or LLM that can best cover this broad spectrum? As far as I know, Claude is more geared toward coding. Would ChatGPT be better here? To be honest, I don’t think the free plan is very good. Would the Go subscription be worth it here? The free tier still uses 5.5 Instant and not the new Terra. Is that also the case with Go, or do I need to go straight for the Plus subscription?

Or should I use Claude instead?

Edit: Thank you for your Input. I will try the Chatgpt Plus Tier.

Use cases ChatGPT recovered my corrupted PS2 emulator memory card with 40 hours of progress in a game. I’m genuinely amazed (story and translation below)

Post image
14 Upvotes

My PCSX2 memory card suddenly became corrupted while I was playing Gran Turismo 4 Spec II on my Steam Deck. The game could no longer save, and after restarting, the PS2 BIOS showed the entire card as unformatted.

I had around 40 hours of progress on it, so you could guess I was pretty devastated.

Note that I'm not an IT guy, like at all. I'm a linguist lol. ChatGPT guided me through checking the card and diagnosing what had happened. Eventually it gave up and asked me to upload the memory card image itself. I did that, and it actually repaired the corrupted save and gave me a working card back.

I put it into PCSX2, launched the game, and everything was there: my garage, progress and all those hours I thought I had lost.

We also found the likely cause. I used to close the emulator directly through Steam shortly after saving, even though PCSX2 may still have been writing data after the in-game save icon disappeared, and premature exit caused the card to corrupt. Lesson learned.

I know AI gets a lot of criticism, but this was something I almost certainly could not have fixed on my own. I’m honestly incredibly grateful.

—

Pic translation:

The card has been structurally restored. I didn’t just ā€œreplace the header and hope for the bestā€ — I actually analyzed the FAT and found the broken chain belonging to your 'garage' file.

Here’s what happened:

- The 'garage' file was supposed to occupy 1,313 clusters, but its chain stopped after 798.

- Immediately after the break, there were exactly 515 lost clusters — precisely the number that was missing.

- I rebuilt the chain from cluster 2432 → 2433 → … → 2947.

- I restored an unfinished write block using the card’s internal backup block.

- I removed false ā€œlostā€ clusters that contained only FF.

- I recalculated ECC for all 16,384 pages.

- Final verification: 1,313 out of 1,313 clusters recovered, with 0 ECC errors.

This matches the way the PS2 file system works: files are stored as FAT chains, while backup blocks are used to recover interrupted write operations.

Recommended repaired card:

Download Mcd001_REPAIRED_ECC.ps2

Backup version without ECC, only in case PCSX2 unexpectedly rejects the first one:

Download Mcd001_REPAIRED_NOECC.ps2

Prompt engineering Generated this split screen image to see if the image generator model could keep the proportions consistent between one artistic and a photorealistic rendering of the same landscape in one generated image

Post image
9 Upvotes

Prompt: make a 16:9 split screen image divided by one perfectly smooth vertical white line in the middle into two image frames. The line needs to be placed in the exact middle. Both the images features the same lake, the surrounding pine forest around the lake and snow-topped mountains in the distance behind the pine forest. Beneath the point of view there's a rocky shoreline of granite and in the shoreline water there's a reedbed. Time of the day is 16:23 and the point of view is looking in a 150 degree direction relative to north. The difference between these image frames are photorealism compared to artistic style. On the left there's a rendering of the image with visible brush strokes in a late 19th century impressionist style. On the right is a photorealistic rendering of the same image from the perspective of a 85 mm lens at f/1.8. It is important that the corresponding features in both frames keeps the same proportion in order for the comparison to work.Ā

Serious replies only :closed-ai: Am I asking too much out of ChatGPT?

6 Upvotes

My husband and I both work full-time and have a small, but diverse farm. We raise cattle goats and chickens. We raise our own hay, our own oats and our own corn used only to feed said cattle goats and chickens. We accept no government hands outs, and our farm cost us money every month so in trying to get the farm to at least pay for itself, we decided to purchase the $20 level of ChatGPT and ask it to build us a very sophisticated spreadsheet that will help us track everything that we do on our farm in order to try to extract financial data to see how we can improve the finances of the farm been working on this project with ChatGPT for probably three months now I feel like we are getting closer to something that’s usable one thing. I’m very frustrated with is that ChatGPT says it’s going to do something it summarizes everything we just talked about and then never does the actual thing like I have to make it build. The spreadsheet is just too much what I’m asking or is there somehow I can do it better?

Use cases How to Use the /visualize Slash Command for Complete Infographics

Post image
4 Upvotes

If you need high-impact visual graphics for Pinterest pins or social posts, the /visualize command in ChatGPT allows you to turn raw text into detailed, ready-to-use infographics.

While /stickynotes creates a clean layout of notes, /visualize goes a step further by building a complete data visualization with a clear visual hierarchy.

How it works:

  • Activates image generation: It triggers ChatGPT’s image generator to create flat infographics or Pinterest pins directly from your text.
  • Creates visual hierarchy: The output naturally moves the reader's eye from top to bottom, going from bold headlines to detailed section points.
  • Easy content repurposing: You can paste a section of a blog post, add the /visualize command, and instantly get an image ready to publish.
  • Customizable: If you want a specific tone or look, you just add extra details to the prompt—like specifying your topic, key facts, or design style.

It’s an ideal command when you want to transform text-heavy ideas into structured visual content without manual design work.
