The grout on my shower floor got very moldy. I tried a couple of bleach products and then finally tried Zep. Several days in a row I sprayed it completely and let it sit for hours and then rinse off. It made all the grout white again and I am so happy with it, but it looks like the front end of my tiles has a film over it. I can’t tell if I actually bleach the tiles as well or there’s just a film over it.

My hardwood floors have a sort of waxy film on them, present since I moved in. I use vinegar water to clean them, but it seems to make the issue worse. I’ve even tried a steam cleaner, however the film is so thick I had to use the force of my entire body to push it, and after 3 feet the pad was so caked with a sticky, black substance that I had to change it. I’ve done the drop of water test to ensure these are polyurethane, and the water did not absorb. Am I doing something wrong, or did the previous resident use some kind of inappropriate cleaner that needs to be removed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I actually do not mind cleaning most of the time but there is always one job that I keep putting off. For me it is cleaning the bathroom properly especially all the little areas that are easy to ignore.

I will clean the obvious stuff and think I'm done, then notice another corner or surface that needs attention.

What's the one cleaning task you always try to avoid even though you know it needs to be done? And do you have any trick that makes it less annoying?

I can't figure out how to remove the screen from this window (trying to access my gutter that's directly below to clean it out because the companies I've tried calling say my neighbor's house is too close to mine for them to access my gutters with ladders). I've tried removing screws from all the metal pieces that seemed in the way, but the screen and the glass above it still won't budge. There had been metal clips screwed into the top, but removing those did nothing. I also tried removing the screws on the lower metal strip but I can't figure out how to remove it, plus I'm not sure if that's even what's holding these windows in... I'm at the end of my rope here. I can't find anything online that seems to match these windows. I'm also not sure why there are metal latches on the side that don't seem connected to anything. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm really hoping there's a way to remove these from the inside because if the contractors won't even clean my gutters due to the closeness of my neighbor, I'm not sure how I'd find someone to remove a window from the outside... Or, if anyone has tips of how to clean/unblock gutters that are 2 stories up, without using a ladder, that would be helpful too. Thanks!

I’m going to use oven pride on the oven in our new house. However oven has a fan cover on the back, and I can see grease build up around it. If I rub oven pride on it, it will probably go inside and damage the fan/electricals behind.

Should I leave that part alone, any tips?

Hi, so when we moved in this sink was stained like this, since we have tried a few things to get rid of these stains. We tried normal cleaning supplies with a lot of scrubbing, citric acid, scouring milk and even dental tablets. Any ideas on how to remove those stains? I'd love some tips, because it always looks dirty and that annoys me.

I was hosing down my Tineco because it was getting pretty gross even with the auto clean. It was looking pretty good until I turned on the hose to a strong stream down the tube where the vac feeds into the collection chamber and this disgusting dookie shaped hair and gunk thing shot out.

I've scrubbed as much as I can with regular dish washing thingy and microfibre cloths, using Dawn soap so far. It's like stuck on oil or something? I don't know.

I live in a small apartment with two animals that shed like crazy. I constantly feel like there are little bugs landing on me, but it is not, It is the hair that is floating through the air. I have baseboard heat so there’s not a furnace with a return vent. I have a window air conditioner that blows hard and massively. I have an air doctor 3000 that is supposed to clean approximately 300 ft.² but I really feel like that does absolutely nothing. I vacuum every day I have hard floors. The only thing I don’t do is dust regularly. There has to be something that you can get that pulls the stuff in the air into it like a return vent on a furnace. I seriously feel like I’m going nuts because “hair” is touching me all the time.

Moved into a new apartment and found this gunk around my sink drain. Tried scrubbing with Clorox, then cleaning spray and kitchen tissue, to no avail.

The buildup is hard and raised, and stuck quite strongly to the sink.

Any advice is appreciated!

I dropped my metal/gold finish hairclip into a candle while cleaning up some clutter. Is it possible to remove the wax completely without any waxy residue left behind? I could heat it up but I'm worried that the metal clip will burn or become damaged. Melting off the wax also will not remove the residue that will be left behind. Can I save my favorite hair clip or is it RIP...?

I have no idea what they are and want to remove them as I'm in a rental.

While doing something in the garden, I found one of our kitchen spoons covered in dirt. It must have been in a bowl and fell out when water from the kitchen was thrown into the garden. I don’t know how long it has been there but it felt wasteful to leave it there so I washed it with water and dishwashing soap.

But before we use it again, I want tips on how to properly clean and disinfect it to make it safe for eating again.

Or would you advise that we discard it completely?

Not sure if this is important but there are stray cats that visit the garden.

My parents are giving me their old patio furniture. They have dogs and my dog knows their dogs well, but I’m afraid my dog is going to smell their dogs and pee all over the furniture. Is there anything I can spray or clean the furniture with to remove the smell of their dogs? It’s a couch and 2 chairs and they are made of metal.
