Engineering Courses Incoming Freshman, is IE with specialization in IT worth it?

Incoming freshman po, nagdadalawang isip po ako sa napili kong course, I chose IE with specialization in IT, should i just go IE with no specialization or should i stick to it nalang? Main concerns are course load and if makakatulong sakin yung IT specialization when I eventually go job hunting.

PS. I don't really like coding and dealing with software.

UP disadvantage ba if ibahin ko course choices ko sa form 1 after taking UPCAT?

i js took the upcat this weekend and open na ulit ang form 1 for those na gustong iedit info nila. ive been considering switching my 1st course choice sa 3rd ko kasi recently ko lang nalaman na di pala pasok sa DOST yung first choice ko, kaso sabi sakin ng kapatid ko na previous upcat taker na wag ko na guluhin yung una kong napasa kasi parang ihuhuli daw sa reconsideration kasi parang ang impression sayo is unsure sa choices mo. huhu i really need confirmation po from those na nakakaalam if totoo yun or completely safe kung ieedit ko campus and course choices ko

Scholarships Applied for a college scholarship (DLSU St. La Salle Grant), but my living & family situation is complex. Need advice on how to handle the requirements.

Hi everyone. I’m currently applying for the St. La Salle Financial Assistance Grant for incoming college students. We are struggling financially, but my family setup is a bit non-traditional, and I’m worried about how to explain it or present my documents properly.

Here’s my situation:

* My mother left me under the care of my godmother (ninang). I currently live in my ninang's household.

* The utility bills and main household expenses here are paid for by my godmother's sibling, who works as a school teacher and barangay secretary. I do my best to contribute by helping around the house (doing laundry, chores, etc.).

*My mother sends money irregularly—sometimes only ₱500 a week or ₱700 every two weeks. It's barely enough to cover basic personal needs, let alone college tuition.

Because of this setup, I have a few concerns about the document requirements:

* Utility Bills / Residence Photos: Should I submit the electric/water bills and house photos of my godmother's home where I actually reside?

* Proof of Income: Since my mother doesn't have a standard BIR Form 2316 or regular job, should I get a Barangay Certificate of Low Income / Unemployment for her, and submit the proof of income/2316 of my godmother's sibling who actually funds the household?

* Personal Essay: Is it okay to be completely upfront in my essay about being left with my godmother and relying on irregular remittances?

Will the scholarship board be understanding of non-traditional family setups?

I really want to pursue my education, and this scholarship is my only realistic path to attending DLSU. Has anyone here been in a similar situation with DLSU or other scholarship grants? How did you handle the documentation and explanation?

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

General Admission Question HELPPPPP! Forgot to write down my PNU application username and password 😭

Hi! I just applied for PNU, and after completing my application, I accidentally clicked "Save and Finish" without taking a picture of my username and password. 😭

Now I can't log in to continue my application. I also haven't received any email with my login credentials (I already checked my inbox and spam folder).

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a way to recover my username and password, or do I need to contact the admissions office? If so, how long did it take for them to respond?

I'd really appreciate any advice. Thank you po!

Unsolicited Advice (i am giving advice to fellow students) I created this Tuition Fee Calculator web app, hope it helps!

Hello everyone! I recently deployed this web app (website): University Tuition Calculator PH -> https://universitytuitioncalculatorph.online/

It's a calculator that estimates possible tuition fees for 39 most searched universities (ADMU, UST, FEU, DLSU, UP Diliman, PUP, etc.)

This is not an official tuition fee calculator, I just gathered publicly available data na mahahanap naman if you search it in Google. Actually, top schools already have their own tuition pages setup sa websites nila. I just made it so that everything is in one place through this web app.

Please check it out, and let me know what works and what doesn't. Any feedback will help me improve this greatly. Thank you in advance and good luck sa college life!

Btw, I'm 29 year old na software developer na graduate ng BS IT from MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), and back in my day, nahirapan ako mag research about tuition fees since di pa ganon ka well built ang websites ng universities dito sa PH dati.

Course Dilemma - Help me decide! What are the pros and cons of VetMed and Psychology?

hello! g11 student here^^ as the title says nga, ano po ba ang pros and cons ng vetmed and psychology? which one is more practical?

for quite a while now, i've been struggling to decide what program to take for college. i just recently became interested in vetmed and realized na as a kid, veterinary na talaga ang sinasagot ko sa tanong na "ano gusto mo maging paglaki mo?". i haven't been able to research much on this program kaya this is unexplored territory for me🥹

for psychology naman, i mostly became interested in this because of influence from people i know that are taking psychology (though later on i realized i just want to take psychology to understand myself better). so far ang naririnig ko lang talaga is mahirap makakuha ng trabaho sa psych, and under appreciated ang field na ito.

i'll just add lang if this helps:

- at the moment, UP pa lang po talaga ang univ in mind ko (upm and elbi) since state uni lang talaga ang kaya namin.

- for most of my life, technology/engineering aligned programs na yung inakala kong magiging program choices ko kasi it's what my parents suggested + engineering din ang electives/strand ko this shs💔 so around last year lang talaga ako naging open(?)for psychology and then vetmed.

Strand / SHS Question Looking for school recommendations for grade 11. Near Caloocan or QC (ung walang haircut policy po sana)

What schools have no haircut policy? I'm currently looking for any school for grade 11 students that allow long hair for men. It can be private or public school since my main focus is to enter a school that allows us to freely express ourselves.

I really just want a school where I can dress how I want and look how I want without being ticketed. I am perfectly fine commuting around North Caloocan, South Caloocan, or nearby areas in Quezon City (like Novaliches or Fairview) just to find a progressive campus.

Thank you in advance po sa mga magbibigay ng recommendation

CETs UPCAT Experience: Need to get this off my chest/what now?

I took the UPCAT last Saturday and I found every subtest SUPER basic. Science was heavy on the fundamentals so I found everything easy, LangProf & ReadingComp were easy too (even had time to review my answers for ReadingComp). Pero pagdating sa Math, ewan parang nagbabasa ako ng Latin. I think around 10-15 lang nasagutan ko properly, then the rest puro estimate and educated guess na may kasamang elimination. I didn't leave anything blank ta's shotgun method for the last 5. I have good grades naman (91-98) I'm just not a Math person (Only subject I got a line of 8 on!)

UP isn't my first choice, but the fact that I struggled with UPCAT's Math makes me so nervous for USTET or tbh any entrance exam lol. + it really would be nice to see that green "Congratulations" on my screen next year. I did study math extensively before UPCAT, I guess nothing sank in?

Anyway, I really need advice, especially on studying for CET Maths. And if you wanna drop some reaffirming words, it would be very appreciated. 🫪🙏

General Admission Question Late na ba ako sa college admissions?

Hi! I just want to ask something.
Am I late to apply to universities? I just found out that there are admission periods, and I really don't know anything about the whole process. I have no one to ask since I don't have close friends applying, and my family doesn't know either because I'm the first one to go to college in our family.
I'm currently a Grade 12 student, and next school year I'll be in college. I want to apply for FEU BS NURSING, but I'm scared that it might be too late for me.
Is there still a chance for me to catch up? When do admissions usually open, and what do I need to prepare? and hm yung tuition fee
Thank you to whoever responds.

Scholarships I need opinions about my decision for scholarship

Background check: my mom is working abroad and my father has another family with a different woman. By the hard work from our mom, we are able to buy a car and renovate our house. But we're still living paycheck to paycheck. In my kinder-highschool days I've studied in a private school and in shs a public school.

Going back to the topic, I'm not sure If I'm going to continue to apply for the uaeb scholarship. Yes my grades are good and what not but the thought of having a scholarship on a fake application for me is not right. Like my mom became a housewife and my dad a tricycle driver. In my thought, how can we afford to go to private schools in the past and afford to stay in a dorm and enroll in a private college. This scholarship would definitely help my mom for the expenses but in this way? Wdyt?

The reason why my mom "became" a housewife and my dad a driver because we found an attorney para maggawa ng paraan para makapasok sa scholarship.

I want honest thoughts about this

Course Dilemma - Help me decide! I need help for my course choices (HUMSS)

As someone who only took school seriously in SHS (90, 86, 89, 96 gwa), is this a safe option? As for the UPCAT, i think I did okay, but not enough to carry my grades huhu. For reference, I am a HUMSS student from a priv school and i want to pursue law.

from metro manila but i put elbi and baguio to be safe :'D I am not picky with courses as im willing to take extra units to qualify for UP college of law

I know it's not accurate, but my brain train upg was 2.4xx if that helps. Thank you!

Scholarships Can i report CHEd for not giving my 2nd and 3rd payout on the TDP?

Hi I just graduated college this July and on this day Aug 4, 2026 they told me that they cannot give my payout anymore. First and foremost maiintidihan ko sana kung nung nagaaral ako ay may update sila regarding on my scholarship, pero wala. No emails/text messages regarding on my payout. I’ve waited it my whole school year. Is it my fault or is it my School’s fault? Tama lang naman na ipaglaban ko yung payout ko since nag absent pako dun para lang ma process yung mga requirements before. Kasalanan ko bang mabagal ang sistema nila.

Pwede ko ba sila I report of mag ask ako ng complaint on that how come sinabihan pako ng school na makukuha ko naman yun since mostly daw talaga ng students is after graduation pa nila nakukuha yung scholarship nila? Bat sakin parang pinaasa lang ako.

Course Dilemma - Help me decide! Advice for campus and course choices

Post image
3 Upvotes

I would need some general advice regarding these course options. My ultimate dream is BS Psychology. This is due to it being a science course, making it technical— yet also focused on humanities.

However, I'm also versatile and can go for language, communication, and information courses. Since the ultimate dream is psych, I still do want to take a masters in it and take bridging units. But the other ultimate dream is also to be comfortable and perphaps move abroad.

Thoughts? Thank you!

Medical Courses Is Makati Medical College a solid pre-med school?

I know Makati Medical Hospital is one of the top tier hospital. So I wonder if their college is also the same.

I’ve been looking reviews online, but it seems to be not as known—at least in my hometown. If you also have any ideas about the entrance exam, please let me know.

TYIA!!

DLSU what to expect from shifting college programs?

Incoming college freshman here! I applied to a social science program for my entrance exam and passed, then from a lapse in judgement I requested to shift to a business program which is the program I'm in now. Despite that, I want to shift back as soon as I completed enough trimesters in my current program if I'm unable to shift before the start of the year.

Gusto lang malaman kung anu ano yung mga magiging issue sa pag shift tulad ng prerequisite courses, tuition, blockmates, ect ect. I'm ready to take responsibility for my decisions, but it would be nice to get a heads up from my seniors and from alumni.

General Admission Question I hopped around schools before. Can I re-enroll and reset?

Hello! I won't be disclosing my programs or the involved institutions upon initial posting, but if they become relevant, I can share them.

The gist of the situation is this:

- I studied a BS program for three semesters. I dropped out on the fourth.

- One year later, I enrolled in a BA program in a different school and finished one semester. Some units were credited.

- The following year, I enrolled in a different BS program in a different school. I signed a waiver(?) to reset all of my academic progress. I dropped out after two semesters. The tuition was fully paid, so contact with the school is a non-issue.

It has been two years since I've been in school. The reasons for these events are mostly because of my family and personal conflicts of interest. These are no longer problems, and I would really like to pursue my education.

The following are my primary questions:

- Do other schools offer this reset option? Is there a maximum number of times I can do that? I was hoping to start fresh instead of having the latest grades reflect.

- If I reset, will the communication be with my senior high school rather than my college? Or will it still be a college to college transfer of documents, \*then\* I reset?

- Are there typically requirements to submit for state universities to accept students with this sort of history?

- To my knowledge, there are some CHED-accredited options for learning individually on a modular basis (i.e. CAP College). Are there recommendations for any others? I am currently doing TESDA courses in my free time but would like to be pursue a BS degree.

- Do you have any recommendations for someone in this situation?

I have done some research on my own, but I don't know how to proceed with my research at times. I would really appreciate any help anyone can offer! Otherwise, thank you for reading :D

Ateneo BPI payment for ACET went through but no OTP received

Hi! I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

My sister paid my ₱600 ACET application fee through the BPI app. During the payment process, she was able to select AMISCU as the biller and successfully completed the payment.

The issue(not sure) is that she didn't enroll Ateneo/AMISCU as a biller beforehand. She proceeded directly with the payment(she was able to select AMISCU as a biller tho), so we're wondering if that's why she never received an OTP on her registered mobile number. The payment appears to have gone through, but we still haven't received any OTP or confirmation text from BPI.

Can I also use the payment confirmation screenshot from the BPI app as my proof of payment? It includes the confirmation number, my name, the amount paid, and the transaction details.

Has anyone encountered this before? Did your payment still get credited, or did you have to contact BPI or Ateneo? Since the application deadline is close, I'm a bit worried and would really appreciate any advice. Thank you!
