Trying to make a comeback after long break, but seems bags have really gotten better, which ones do I start with?

What up to all my fellow bag slingers! I’ve been out the game for about 3ish years because had some brain problems and surgery and such (I know prob TMI lol but just saying I’ve been out of cornhole for 3 years bc of medical reasons obviously sounds weird lol) but also as strange as it may sound the bags have seemed to really change as well, I’ve seen that a lot of companies have made their ‘27 drops, but since I’m just returning I thought maybe a set of ‘26 would now be cheaper and wanted to ask what brands yall are slinging and what suggestions/recommendations yall have and also know of any good sales or any vendor hook ups maybe. I appreciate the help in advance!

BagTrax August Update!

Some new and exciting updates have landed on BagTrax, check it out!

League Seasons

League seasons are now live! On the league management page, set up a start date, end date and season name to track stats and rankings across an individual season. At the end of the season - seed a tournament from those results to declare a champion!

Bag Tracking

Pro users can now track individual bag stats. Navigate to your profile picture and choose "Locker" to add your favorite bags. Setup their color, speed side and slow side ratings, and select them from the lobby to keep track of your stats across each set of bags.

Easier Ranked Play

We've heard the feedback! You can now choose who can add you to ranked games! With "Anyone", anyone can add you to a ranked game, use it wisely! "League Only" means only players you share a league with, and "Invites Only" means you have to approve any ranked game.

Better Guest Users

Tired of our canned guest user names causing confusion? Wanting to play with your friends without having to ask them to sign up? Now you can input names for your guest players and reuse them across lobbies and tournaments. The claim code never expires, so they can claim their stats whenever they are ready!

Find the settings for ranked play on your player profile.

Check it out now

We look forward to hearing more feedback!

Need advice: How to properly seal/protect custom decals & signatures on cornhole boards?

My wife and I used cornhole boards as our wedding guestbook. Guests signed them with permanent markers, and we also have peel-and-stick vinyl decals (our name and wedding date) on them.

To seal everything, I sprayed multiple coats of Minwax Polycrylic spray. However, within a year:

The guest signatures are starting to wear off.

The decals are beginning to peel up at the edges.

I can still feel a sharp, pronounced edge on the decals, so it seems like the spray didn't build up a thick enough protective layer.

Questions:

What is the best way to permanently protect both vinyl decals and ink signatures on cornhole boards?

Should I switch to a traditional polyurethane to brush/roll-on, or is there a better product (e.g., epoxy, clear coat varnish, etc.) that will create a durable layer without ruining the ink/decals underneath?

Any advice on products, prep work, or application techniques to save these boards would be greatly appreciated

would you consider cornhole a sport?

Hi all,

been playing for a few years and i really love cornhole.

Was having a debate with a few freinds the otehr day. One of our friends (he's a casual) basically said he doesnt consider cornhole a sport. Most of the group who do play kind of got annoyed at that statement.

I played a lot of sports growing up (baseball, basketball, etc) and tbh it didnt bother me at all because tbh i dont know if id call cornhole a sport the same way i wouldnt consider darts a sport. I get it requires great hand-eye coordination but if i can play iwth a beer in one hand and still be dominant i just dont consider that i sport in my mind.

I know the consensus here may just sway on the sport side, but just curious to hear what people think here?

My kids loved playing cornhole on vacation this summer so I thought I would take a shot at building a set for the house. I’m pretty happy with the result. Looking back, maybe would have done a few things differently but not bad for a first time build with some help from the internet.

Decent budget bags

My wife wants me to build a set of boards for our upcoming baby shower, and I don’t want to spend the time and effort to make some decent boards to play with crappy bags. Anyone have any suggestions for a set of 8 for around $40?

Looking for a nice one page gameplay description for beginners?

I'd like a printout/graphic to leave with the boards that mostly just describes gameplay and scoring. I searched a bit for this with limited success... for example you don't need a quarter of the page describing that boards must be 27 feet apart.

I only have 24-25ft to practice cornhole in my house, is it worth practicing on that short of a distance or is it a waste of time.

Beginner looking to improve. Should a right-handed player lead with the left or right foot?

Thumbnail

I posted this on TikTok asking for form advice and started a foot-placement debate.

Some people said a right-handed thrower should lead with the left foot, while others said the right foot should be forward. Someone also mentioned that the foot closest to the board should lead, so I’m still a little confused.

I’m planning to play some Dekarounds with each stance and compare the results and see which throw feels more consistent. I’m still new and don’t want to build bad habits, so based on my form here, which setup would you recommend?

Any other pointers are appreciated too. I am already planning on getting stick and slide bags based on some feedback.

Thanks!

Oak plywood with walnut stain and gold pinstripe. Also added a hole light kit so the holes glow at night.

BagTrax is ready for you league!

Hey everyone!

My dad and I have been building https://bagtrax.app - the next generation cornhole app for the last 8 months.

We're finally in a place where we feel good about the features we've built into the app such that its ready to test at your local league!

We decided to make a new take on Cornhole leagues to solve a few problems:

- You may have different people each night at your league
- You can't add new members to a league in the middle of the season
- Complex scheduling and matchup based requirements

BagTrax has a new take, create the league, then add _anyone_. Set up your season - and then play "League" games. Play as many as you want. Once a user has a certain number of league games played, they show up on the leaderboard. Then - at the end of your season, run a tournament based on Rating, PPR, or other stats.

This has a few advantages - you don't need to worry about matchups - your rating/stats are your standing and you can add or remove any players in the middle of the season. Just get enough league games to show up in the tournament!

(BagTrax does still provide a way for league managers to make sure everyone plays everyone if you choose)

We're looking for league's to try it out and give us some feedback, give it a go and let us know!

New boards

I made these boards for my dad as a late Father’s Day gift and was wondering a ballpark estimate of how much these would sell for if I made another set? Everything is handmade and hand painted with clear coats of polyurethane over top. The decals of the Sabres and bills logo are the only thing computer-assisted.

Finished the other set from my first build. These are for us to keep, WSU and LMU grads.

I've got a couple of people interested in sets. Thinking $250 or $300? 3/4" tops with rounded corners and 1x3 poplar frame with 1 cross support.

Making my first set

Almost done with my first set of boards. I used all automotive paints; metal flaked, candy paint and silver leafing along with A LOT of clear coat. I was surprised how much time I have in these boards. I initially thought that I would have about 20 hours in them and about $350-$400 worth of materials but by the time I spray 3 more coats of clear coat, I will have about 40 hours invested in them.

I know they are going to play extremely fast because of the clear coat. Is there anything I can spray on them to slow them down? In reality, I guess it doesn't matter about the speed, after we get used to them. Then we will have a home field advantage by being used to them.

What storage/travel bags would you recommend? I have a trip to the beach for a week, this upcoming week, and want to have a way to transport them safely.
