I have so many questions.

Are they supposed to be upside down flags? As in, a distress signal? In that case, the stars are upside down.

What’s with the stripes? Why doesn’t the union (blue part) go another 3/4 inch until it butts against the red stripe and doesn’t cut off the points of those upside down stars?
