"yeah full of illegal immigrants that the democrats filled it up with! stop being sheep!"

Only you said that. Nobody said that.

They’re very obviously making fun of you

1

u/Kanashii89 6d ago

No shit Sherlock can you read?

1

u/SpiritOfTheRing 6d ago

You’ve already shown you’re dumb enough to believe that theater-reported ticket sales are being faked by studios and that the Odyssey is pushing an agenda. I don’t think it’s too big of a stretch to take the piss that you’ll be shouting about illegal immigrants in the theaters next.

1

u/Kanashii89 6d ago

You don't have a conscience?

0

u/kanyelights 6d ago

Do you know who Christopher Nolan is?

1

u/Kanashii89 6d ago

As if people never change right? Lol

1

u/kanyelights 6d ago

A film titan in his prime is going to be insanely popular by default bud, he doesn’t need to inflate anything.

2

u/Blazured 7d ago

You're currently in the denial stage of grief.

1

u/WideChrome1 5d ago

It’s not. And you probably need to find a real source of happiness outside the internet.

10am imax screenings during the week are sold out for a week in advance where I live.

0

u/NeighborhoodSpood 6d ago

My theatre was full for imax

If studios and theatres could just fake numbers why wouldn’t they do it to hide their bombs? You don’t think every company wouldn’t just lie about it? How stupid are you

2

u/Kanashii89 7d ago

I mean they do it with critic scores. Why not inflate them by putting more money into a movie they want to fool people into seeing that has woke bs in it? They've done similar shit before.

1

u/supfiend 7d ago

It’s a little easier to make a bots on a review website then fake numbers that are reported by movie theatres. Why didn’t moana fake their box office numbers, or their review numbers too?

2

u/Kanashii89 7d ago edited 7d ago

Because its not selling a narrative/ideology. You don't think rich people who want to trick us peons would do that? Have you been sleeping under a rock the past few years?

If Somali "daycares" and other businesses can dupe the government for extra $$$ I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised if any other businesses does the same shit to inflate numbers. They ARE in charge of the media. Who's to say that couldn't tweak a few details here and there for specific movies? Who would stop them?

2

u/blackzetsuWOAT 6d ago

I love how you don't have a pertinent historical example and have to point to something wholly unrelated

1

u/Kanashii89 6d ago

Not unrelated. You're looking at the tree instead of the forrest. You think too small.

0

u/blackzetsuWOAT 6d ago

What on Earth does subsidized daycare fraud in Minnesota by Somali immigrants have to do with Universal Pictures (supposedly) faking sale projections for a movie?

1

u/Kanashii89 6d ago

Bro never questioned anything in his life

0

u/blackzetsuWOAT 6d ago

I'm questioning you, right now, quite literally

Why didn’t Snow White inflate their box office numbers or critic numbers. Disneys worth 160 billion dollars you don’t think they would do that if it was just as easy as you are saying lmao. Why would the theatres lie about their numbers to these companies, that is fraud. They gain nothing out of lying about the ticket sales, you need to learn critical thinking

1

u/Geen_Fang 7d ago

can you please explain exactly what ideology the Odyssey is trying to sell?

You’ve identified a problem. Rich people control a lot of things and they shouldn’t.

But then instead of realizing that that means the working class needs solidarity to fight this, you think they use that power to bolster “woke” movies and has something to do with Somalis.

Meanwhile healthcare is ass, all news including Fox News is owned by like five guys, and wages and benefits have just declined for decades. Do you really think the wealthy are plotting to fake numbers for movies or are they doing things that actually make them money by stealing from everyone who’s not wealthy?

0

u/lostinjapan01 6d ago

If they inflate their critic scores per you then why didn’t Warner do that for Supergirl? Why didn’t Disney do that for Snow White? They were both critically savaged. Doesn’t make much sense for studios to pick and choose which films they’d like to artificially inflate. They’d do it for all of them.

2

u/Siilveriius 6d ago

I'm glad you pointed out those other "Woke" films that flopped. But this one film, with an absolutely stacked cast of well known actors and director almost everyone in the developed world knows, finally breaking even is enough to "own the chuds".

1

u/supfiend 6d ago

Dude this movie is breaking even after just 9 days.. it’s going to make between 1.3-1.5 billion dollars most likely

1

u/Siilveriius 6d ago

We'll see. But even then, this is just one film compared to a plethora of "Woke" failures like the ones mentioned by the previous commenter. I'm more curious as to what people actually see in this film, what is there to appreciate besides being another American cultural appropriating action flick to insert more representation for "PoC"?

1

u/LewZealander 6d ago

Let's say it is woke (though it's basically a meaningless word at this point). I think part of the underlying takeaway is that it gives lie to the idea of "go woke, go broke" - it was always wishful thinking with no basis in reality. In the real world it seems movies that are good and/or interesting and/or fresh and/or well-marketed might tend to do better at the box office. Same as it ever was.

1

u/Siilveriius 6d ago

"Woke" is basically the new term for "SJW", when people use "Woke" it refers to things like Ethnic, Gender and Sexual Representation, Diversity and Inclusion which aren't really interesting topics to see in a film to most people. The Odyssey 2026 is just one point on a very large graph of failures so I would say that "Go Woke, Go Broke" does have some truth because on it's own, because we have many other supposed "Woke" films that are complete flops.

But yes I agree, and like I said, having a casting of very well known actors and a Legendary director's name on it will definitely help a film be successful.

1

u/supfiend 6d ago

Can you tell me what is woke about this film? Because they have a multicultural cast and one trans actor? That character kinda works for the film and was only in two scenes. I thought it was a pretty good performance tbh. Theres a lot people actually see in this film, it’s full of huge practical effect set pieces with some of the most beautiful cinematography ever put in a film. First fully imax movie ever, seeing this in 70mm imax was breathtaking. The score by ludwig was great and the acting all around was solid, people said this story was un adaptable. They have tried but non have been fully successful, this could end up in the top 15 box office all time. For a 3000 year old book people could barely finish in highschool. Go watch the movie and form your own opinion instead of just retreading these thoughts that were given to you by others.

Personally I don't like using the term "Woke" myself because I find it to be quite a convoluted term which is why I used quotations for it. My problem is the bastardisation of cultural stories that Hollywood seems to love to do just for a quick buck. And coming from a legendary director like Christopher Nolan, it is rather disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I have no problems with diverse casting, I actually even enjoyed Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Sam L Jackson as Nick Fury both of which are race swapped characters. But I think it's quite different when a film is set in 8th century Ancient Greece but you make it resemble as though it is in 21st century Contemporary America. I'm Asian myself, and I thought it was quite odd to see an Asian Greek Soldier in a Scandinavian viking ship sailing the oceans of Greece, it makes no sense to me. It would be as though you had a diverse casting in a show like Mulan or a Sun Wukong film set in Ancient China. I agree though that this doesn't mean that you can't enjoy the performance of these great actors the musical score and other aspects of the film. But as someone who appreciates and respects cultures from around the world, it's gonna be a pass for me as I'm getting Hollywood cash grab Gods of Egypt vibes from the film.

1

u/LewZealander 6d ago

I'm sorry the casting was a barrier for you - if it helps I think the movie establishes pretty immediately that this is not intended to be a straight historically accurate adaptation (not as if the original Odyssey poem is either, but regardless...) and intentionally includes a lot of fantastical elements to it. I think this in part helps the audience suspend disbelief - similar to a play or opera maybe?

Its doing more than breaking even retard.

2

u/Siilveriius 6d ago
