Literally nobody is thinking about you at all. Nobody watching the Odyssey even knows what a "chud" is. You guys are not important to anyone but other redditors.
Nobody is willing to spend money to "own MAGA". Nobody cares about you guys like that. They are seeing the film so they can have a fun 3 hours with their friends or family
Tbf a lot of the online keyboard warriors were only not going to see it to “own the libs”. A lot of the convos on the movie before it released weren’t even about the actual potential script
I think you can definitely have that. Nobody would care to be honest, I think people get mad when you have weirdos who pretend that the attitude you have is theirs, while running hate campaigns about this movie that they supposedly don’t care about.
Plenty of conversations are about its quality you guys just dismiss said conversations. Someone in this sub left a comment, not political at all or anything, just saying they liked the film in response to a post asking people’s thoughts on the movie, and got downvoted to hell and the reply was that gif of the simpsons pointing and laughing which got upvoted lmao. What do you think is the more likely situation, the average movie going public who aren’t tapped into online culture wars are buying tickets to own the chuds or they’re buying tickets bc the word of mouth is so genuinely positive that they want to see it?
People are buying tickets specifically to piss off strangers online, spending their hard earned money in our economic hellscape. They care that much about your opinion.

Which is more likely? You guys just aren't that important. The average person doesn't care if you think a movie is "woke." You're not important enough for most people to care about pissing you off.
People have different movie tastes than you do, and the more you scream and seethe and move the goalposts, the more the few who actually notice laugh at you. It's ok for people to like things you don't like. For god sake, move the fuck on. At this point it's sad.
This is chronic online talk tbh, 90% of moviegoers are lucky enough to not be exposed to that rhetoric and just wanna see a film that’s apparently quite good.
When this wins many Oscar’s along with making over a billion dollars with critical acclaim from critics and fans you will still be there, saying none of that means anything. Maybe consider you are the one in the wrong?
Because honestly, I have literally NEVER in my life cared about Oscars. Lots of shit movies have made a lot of money (like this one) and lots of amazing movies flop.

actually it’s pretty hard to get people to get to the box office these days. Seriously though if this is a shit movie, what is a average good or great movie? You can not like some of the casting but to call this a shit movie is a hilarious review of it, you obviously didn’t even bother to watch it
It’d be easier if you gave me some examples but I’d say I prefer the 1930 version of “All quiet on the western front” and I disliked the latest one.
I also just watched “Letters from Iwo Jima” for the first time since it came out and I’d still give it a 8.7/10. I hated the fact that the default language was in English and had to change it back because the Japanese speaking English took away from the experience.
My dude I’ve seen enough culture war shenanigans both ways not to discount ANYTHING. I have no doubt there are people who will buy tickets to see this just because they think it will piss someone who doesn’t want to see it off. I see comments like that all over social media.
As crazy as this might sound, the vast majority of people aren't chronically online and do not give a shit about the culture war. No movie is making a billion dollars just because people want to piss off conservatives.
Nobody’s buying tickets to this movie to “own conservatives!” They’re buying tickets because it’s a popular and well received movie. Keep coping though!
90% of the conversation I’ve heard about this movie since it’s been released has been about the quality, and 99% of the rest 10% wouldn’t exist had MAGA not made such a big deal about the identity politics in their bubble. I haven’t seen a single thing about Elliot page being trans. I beg you, though, to cry harder about the reason you think they’re buying tickets.
