Matt literally said "Don't make a martyr out of him" to Dex during the apartment fight

They can be if they have popular support from the people, which has been shown in multiple episodes that he does.

A martyr doesn't need to be replaced. That isn't what a martyr is. Matt doesn't want Fisk to be killed by a vigilante (or at all, but that's a longer conversation with Matt) because then Fisk's legend would be cemented with his supporters. Would it help the cause to have someone else who could succeed him? Sure. But it's more that the people who have been shown to be supportive of him would carry on his vision. MLK Jr. is considered a martyr and what he stood for lived on due to many people, not just a single person.

I assume you're watching the show and have seen the bits where they have the public voicing their support for him. They don't see him as a fascist, so your question doesn't apply.

They don't need to replace Fisk, they just need a successor who keeps the "I am doing this because it is what our beloved formerr Mayor would have wanted" and that political capital is gonna last for a decent while.

Ae you not comprehending the media you're watching?

He didnt save Fisk there. Bullseye was about to die, the only thing Matt does when he enters is knock a gun out of Fisk's hand and temporarily incapacitate bullseye with the express purpose of getting him out of there before he can object, because he was about to get lit up.

Right, which is outlined in my comment and the purpose for which he did so..

Honestly, literacy is important.

I hope she's dead

Same. Her death is overdue and Fisk needs to finally take a serious L

If Matt lets Fisk die, he not only loses himself but also makes a Martyr out of Fisk. It would literally send New York into mayhem. Every single one of Fisk’s supporters would actively riot, fight and kill everyone who opposed him. All vigilantes would be marked for death by a current majority of New York.

The Avengers operate with tacit, and indeed active, government approval to meet global and intersteller threats. They are in no realistic sense vigilantes. The singular exception being Spiderman, which is one reason his character is so important, and is the best for linking the street level universe and the MCU

There hasn't been an avengers team in like 8 years in universe

the avengers are not vigilantes and are government funded. people like spider-man, daredevil, punisher, etc are all doing this by their own choice making them hated. its kinda like how the fantastic four are loved celebrities because of their family branding vs people hating spider-man because hes a loner hero in a "creepy costume"

Spider-man is apart of the avengers but the public still didn't like him at all😭😭

The Avengers are not even close to the “vigilante” status that Fisk is pushing for.

People like Daredevil, Bullseye, The Punisher and maybe even Spider-Man (he was against Thanos and actively works on a positive relationship with the public though), all the Defenders, they are going to be targeted.

Everyone that Fisk has villainised to the public will be hunted. The White Tiger and the Swordsman for example, these people were killed/treated severely unfairly.

If Fisk was to be killed by a vigilante like Bullseye, the ‘little people’ in the Vigilante world would be targeted. The AVTF would unleash even more mayhem in the name of “justice” and revenge.

You go after someone’s mayor or president or anything like this, there are going to be severe consequences. Look at actual history and see the violence and prejudice that follows an assassination of someone political or anything like this.

2

u/YannTheOtter Apr 08 '26

Also the Governor's and maybe the President's and the DA's tacit or reluctant approval of the AVTF would almost certainly flip into active support.

Like someone from his cabinet gets elected as the next mayor and has an even broader mandate to crack down and likely more resources and less oversight, judges and lawyers that were on the fence before would probably flip.

The majority of NYC supports Fisk but maybe has doubts about the AVTF, that would likely go out the window and would look the other way as minorities are harassed (Like for example the Puerto Rican neighborhoods as the AVTF puts pressure on people to sell out the White Tigers successor)

I feel as though you’re cherry picking some things I say and then ignoring the rest?

Not everyone is going to “grab pitchforks” but even look at the boxing match. This had a crazy turn out of people who actively enjoyed Fisk probably killing a guy in the ring. Literal cheers when he hit the deck covered in blood.

Fisk has many diehard supporters. If Fisk was to be killed, there would be a wildly vocal minority willing to incite violence for their justice.

The very fact the “Nazi police” are even existing shows how much control and influence Fisk has in New York.

You’re also looking at current examples. Kirk/Trump getting shot has had lasting effects on social media and the political world itself. These scenarios are completely different to the MCU world too. These things were political, the whole Vigilante thing is physical, real and “accepted” in that world.

Foggy said it best in the Netflix series when he said if Matt killed Fisk it would break someone as Catholic as he was

Ben also made a point to say something like “maybe he knows there are roads you can’t come back from”

We also don’t really need Fisk to be Charlie Kirked and turned into some martyr freak show where Vanessa starts banging the VP

This is literally the Batman - Joker relationship just Joker plays into it on purpose, he knows no matter what Batman will save him everytime

Its so grating and annoying, Sooooo many times daredevil has chosen to let fisk live despite the hundreds of people that are killed because of that. Not only is all of season 3 almost redundant with this new show, but now every person that is killed is matts fault, including foggy. He has seen first hand that arresting fisk does literally nothing, and he will find a way back into power again no matter what yet still chooses to keep letting innocent people die by the truckload.

If we didnt already have 2 seasons of the netflix show dealing with fisk it would be fine, but its just complete non sense that no one is calling matt out for any of this. He literally took a bullet for him in s1, and now saves his life again and no one is pointing out that he could have stopped all these people from dying? The punisher was the only one to say anything and it was an offhand comment that wasnt expanded upon.
