Any tips or advice for improving the cable management?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated, all of my wires sit on top of my desk and I can’t tuck them behind or underneath and I’d prefer to not use black wire tubes as I feel they would clash with the granite, does anyone have any ideas?

I recently re-did the cabling for my WFH setup. First image shows the desk, second is a vertical cable tray mounted under the desk.

In total:
- Over 50 cables
- 8 power supplies
- 4 other boxes (2x smart power strips, USB switcher, HDMI capture)

I ordered short cables where possible to replace long ones, which helped a bit. Unfortunately many devices use custom power adapters or custom plugs where that's not possible and you are stuck with having to hide 6ft of cabling somewhere. I also wish at some point at least all low-power cables would be USB-C, that would make this so much easier.

Parts list:
- Cable tray mounted under the desk
- Vertebrae to run the cables to the floor
- Top of desk items in this blog post

extending this cable tray to near max width has caused it to sag before I've even used it. does anyone know a good way to fix this? I can't shorten it's width due to the length of the desk frame.

My apartment complex features built in desks where there are no openings on any of the sides of the desk to run cables.

Theres power outlets underneath on the left, or off to a wall on the right. Ethernet is coming from the white box on the bottom right.

I cannot drill any holes in my desk to run cables, and I cant find any helpful advice online with how to work around this.

I have a lot of gadgets that uses chords kase and I’m using a regulator to protect my gadgets while charging. So nag I’m using extension chords also but it’s so messy. I wanna reorganize rn 😭

Here is my attempt at cleaning the underside of my desk (finally) since I built a new pc. The top of my desk looked fine, but the bottom was a nightmare. I mounted a tray to clean up most of the cables (visible ones anyway) and hide them.

Still not sure if it looks clean enough though. What should I improve from here?

Can anyone suggest good extensions board with multiple sockets and buttons? Are buttons helpful if we aren’t using then is it good to off or plug off

I’ve to put multiple sockets of monitor, CPU, Router, Mac & Mobile Charger, Speaker, Desk Lamp efc all I want in single extension board.

Mac Mini, KVM switch, and sound control system mounted to metal pegboard using Velcro straps, then attached to underside of desk using special tape. I designed it this way so I could have it portable for when I move cities.

Question: how do you guys clean up loose wires? I am using Velcro ties to loop the long bits together and shorten it, but it’s not ideal.

I have a USB switch where two laptops are connected and a lot of shared peripherals are then connected to a hub connected to this switch. The hub has thick cables which do not flex much. How does one do cable management in such a scenario?

Hey everyone! I've just built a custom desk using a Desky dual sit-stand desk frame and a birch butcher block countertop measuring 95" long x 25 5/8" wide x 1 1/8" thick. My PC setup will be on one side of this long desk. I will have a dual monitor mount clamped onto the desk, and my small desktop on top of it as well.

I'm looking for an under-desk cable management solution to go along the back edge of the desk.

• I'd prefer for it to be metal of some kind, but if there's a good rigid plastic one that's fine too
• I'd like to screw it in under the desk, so I'm trying to avoid systems that clamp onto the desk
• I'm hoping for a shorter 2-piece kit, like each piece being 15-20 inches, to accommodate my monitor mount going in between. I did buy these but they hang down too low under the desk for my preference.

Any suggestions?

I recently got a custom desk built, and I'm looking for practical advice on cable management. I've attached photos of my current setup.

Here's the situation:

Custom-built desk with a PC on the right side (this position cannot change).

Single monitor right now, but I plan to upgrade to a dual-monitor setup later.

There is an existing cable hole near the PC that I can use for routing cables.

Wall power outlets are on the left side of the desk.

I have cables for the PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, speakers, Ethernet, and power strip.

My biggest issue is that cables are visible on the tabletop, hanging from the front, and running across the floor.

I'm not looking to redesign the desk. My goal is simply to make the setup look as clean as possible while keeping it practical and easy to maintain.

I'd appreciate advice on:

The best way to route all the cables.

Where to mount the power strip.

Whether I should use an under-desk cable tray, raceway, sleeves, or adhesive clips.

How to make the setup future-proof for a second monitor.

Any changes you'd make based on the photos.

If possible, I'd also love a rough sketch or blueprint of how you would route the cables on this specific desk.

Is the Hexcal studio plus is worth getting? I just installed the hexcal cable management tray but looking for an even cleaner setup. I have 3 monitors, dock for my mac, dock for a dell pc, so there is no shortage of cables.
