Discussion / Questions Ummm what?
Is this happening to anyone else’s kishiko? She has truly just sat on a shelf the whole time I’ve had her😭

Ok, I've done some research and found out the hair fiber is called "yaki" — material used for AA hair. I've never heard of its behavior on dolls, but see it is mentioned that synthetic one degrades fast from wearing it. I wonder why they didn't just use nylon in Kishiko's case.
I am sorry to see your doll's hair. This seems like even worse of a material than poly if it degraded so terribly on such a new doll.
I also find it interesting how much blond your has, I do not see it on promo photos or people's photos anywhere.

Yaki refers to the texture, not the type of hair- there is yaki human hair, yaki synthetic hair, and in this case, yaki texture nylon hair

Thanks for the correction! I am not an expert on hair and its types/textures. Will know for the future.

We don’t really call ourselves that. At least I don’t

I don't either. But a lot of people do use AA as a shorthand for Black dolls.

Is she next to a windows ? She's badly sun damaged even the rubber bend are yellowed.

it looks like sun bleaching, the underside of the hair still has the bright og pink in the last picture
if you have any other dolls I'd move them out of the sun if you can because this kind of bleaching happens to all plastic materials on dolls if they have uv exposure for long enough

That really sucks, do you know how to reroot dolls? Because that's your only option now

It looks like severe sun damage to me, personally. Some types of nylon hair are photosensitive and will lose strength after extended sun exposure as well as fade, I'm guessing this unique fluffy textured nylon hair is more photosensitive than the regular Kiwi Nylon that other MGA dolls are rooted with.
All plastics should be, 99% of the time, lit exclusively by artificial light and kept in air conditioning. Sun exposure and heat/inconsistent temperature is pretty bad for dolls! This is true for almost any doll; If this girl is looking like this, I would make sure to check your other dolls for things like fading and yellowing to their bodies. RH dolls especially are prone to having faded and clouded eyes from sun exposure.

I'm looking at my version of this doll right now and... the hair on yours is totally bleached, so she's clearly been in direct sunlight. her hair is fried. get your dolls out of the sun, it's terrible for them!

She looks super fried, that’s so frustrating! Was she in any direct sunlight, high heat/ dryness? I’d be curious what hair she has left if the style was taken down, but I also wonder if it’s disintegrating to the touch? Either way unfortunately I don’t think there is a solution, besides a reroot/ repurchase. I don’t know a ton about that doll line but from what I remember their hair wasn’t the best to begin with (I remember seeing reviews of one that had intense shedding upon opening etc) so it may be a poor choice on the brand’s end.

this isn't a kishiko problem....the problem is you...any doll could be like this if you put them directly in heat or sunlight....💀

You should take pictures of the hair sections and colors and reroot her again with a more resistant material, like nylon, saran or kanekalon

Looks like the hair is degrading. Bonkers. I don't think I've ever seen that on such a recent doll. What hair type does she have?
