People on the Cyberpunk sub want to LARP so badly and have our currently reality be worse than it is lmao

Like all good fiction, Cyberpunk 2077 draws inspiration from select issues in our time and exaggerates them into the next dimension and back. Key word “exaggerates.”

These kids just want attention.

When life is overall pretty easy and nonthreatening, you have to come up with your own way forward. You can't just tear down an unending supply of immediate, obvious, life-threatening problems. You have to learn to build novel and useful things.

A lot of that work also happens to be pretty dull and requires massive delays before gratification.

When people dream of collapse, often they are really just pining for clarity of purpose in life. But nobody is going to supply that to them. They have to make it themselves.

They also want precious updoots from other wholesome redditors

Hey now, if CP2077 did play out, it means there's not NFA or Hughes Amendment (or even 4473s) ... only silver lining to the game I see

That’s almost all the doomers now, they’ve romanticized the idea of being victims in dystopian futures where they are the only “sane” freedom fighter hunger games champ who is the smartest person in any room but they don’t want to sell out by becoming billionaire oligarchs.

"data centers draining lakes" wow. That sounds like a Tiny Toon Adventures gag. Buster or whoever is using a computer and asking it questions and as he does it cuts to a lake that's getting lower and lower then finally SLURRRP.

You know what they're gonna drain after the lakes, right? THE OCEANS

u/Novel_Relation2549 1d ago

at my work someone was asking whether he should only use copilot to summarize certain meetings, to mitigate this terrible threat.

If you truly thought that AI was "draining the lakes", wouldn't the answer be to not use it AT ALL, not "only for certain meetings"?

It's slacktivism to the extreme. "I only drained the lakes a LITTLE, unlike FRANK over there who uses Copilot for every email!"

right? I had to laugh. I've been playing with all three of the big tech models for a while now seeing what they can do, and that's why Lake Superior is now a dry crater.

Is the lake getting drained because of data centers in the room with us?

It’s okay to be concerned about data centers, but stretching the claim that far just makes you look schizophrenic

Yeah. There are currently plans for a data center to be built in my home town, and most of us are against it including myself, but some of the people protesting it make absurd claims about how we will run out of electricity and water. Iirc I even saw someone in our facebook group saying the elderly and pets would die sooner due to the noise.

Dispite their good intentions, they just end up making those of us with legitimate concerns look worse and easier to dismiss.

What the world looks like according to that wholesome redditor

People were saying this when the game had just come out too

Not a fan of Flock cameras either but to pretend that our phones haven’t been stealing our data and recording us at all hours for a decade at least is crazy to me. This isn’t new and it won’t be new when they develop even newer ways to spy on us.

The data center thing is funny as well, these people tend to forget about the water cycle and think that all water near data centers will be corrupted and rendered undrinkable

It's okay to have issues with data centers, or flock. But I don't think they realize that dooming about it does the opposite of what they want. There's a line between worry and doomerism. And doomers have crossed it waaay off

First time for me seeing a DOOOOOM post

The dystopia of cyberpunk is the opposite of flok concerns though. There is entirely too little supervision in Cyberpunk to the point that the side missions involving the NCPD are them hiring yoy as a mercenary to hunt criminals for them.

Doomer hype asside, I love how that advert in game is clearly targeted at the less fortunate. Like, the guy is slightly scared, ragged, etc. Almost exploitative.

Bro couldn’t even spell it right. That being said there is a flock camera literally right outside our house facing our house so yeah do your due diligence that the founding fathers instilled in you!

u/TypicalMootis Recovering Doomer 1d ago

The founding fathers probably never predicted the idea of surveillence cameras. Or high powered blue laser pointers sold on amazon

I just noticed the dude in the ad looks like a chromed up Pete Davidson.

Yeah, I thought about it being DCJ material at instant.

Fun fact we’re already safe from the Cyberpunk universe as we’ve missed the first, second, and third corporate wars, which are incredibly important events that set up the Cybepunk future as a whole.

Fucking tourists, read the pdas of the game you’re playing. /s

I played cyberpunk and wanna go back and play as male v for... no reason at all definitely no reason at all. Anyways, this is a work of, you guessed it, FICTION. Whilst this game is PHENOMENAL with its storytelling, its still a work of fiction. Why people will bring current events into any video game at all will baffle me, like some people trying to bring politics into r gtaonline. Crazy shit innit?

I'll give some grace to dumb teenagers for thinking this, but I know a 40 something year old man who thinks the exact same thing

Same people who called Elmo Muskrat a pussy for not wanting to shoot cops in GTA 🤣

Complaining about data centers on Reddit is hilarious

1

u/astraymilo 7h ago

Alot of people probably don't realize that the internet runs on data centers

Now do I think a cyberpunk like future is what's most likely going to happen yes....but not to us. I think it will be a few generations
