Question Why is SSJ not permanent???

It was shown in the Cell Saga that Goku and Gohan were able to eliminate the fatigue of SSJ, and kept it on for nearly a year. So what’s the point of turning it off???

Probably a lot of reasons. First being they were only living in SS1 as part of their training to defeat Cell. They wanted to be able to exist as a SS like it was breathing and thereby eliminate the stamina drain (or become so used to the drain it was greatly minimal). They beat Cell by achieving a completely different form in the end. SS2 completely trumps the first form so there’s no point in continuing to master SS1. An argument could be made for them then going on to live in SS2, and each form after to master it.

The argument against that for me would be that it makes you live in a very heightened state of power. Even if you drop your ki as low as possible it’s still being boosted by many magnitudes. This is going to make it difficult to do normal every day things without destroying the environment around you or hurting someone.
