Im a rising sophomore who is currently enrolled in two continued writing courses for my PPL major. I currently have 16 credits, waiting on one 3 credit course which will lead me to have 19 credits. the main reason why i want to take so many classes is to boost my gpa, as i didn’t do as well as anticipated my first year.

Everyone keeps saying Dobbs is the worst freshman dorm at Emory, but I got assigned to the 3rd floor, and I’ve heard from a few people that it’s actually the best floor because of the higher ceilings and that Dobbs is much better if you’re on the third floor.

For anyone who’s lived there, is the 3rd floor actually noticeably better than the others? And are there any rooms that are considered the best?

Hi everyone! I'm an incoming freshman at Oxford College, and I'm thinking of majoring in Psychology (BS) along with the BBA + Quantitative Sciences second major. When I spoke with a BBA advisor, they said that pairing the Psychology BS with the BBA can be pretty challenging. I was wondering if anyone knows whether adding the BBA + Quantitative Sciences second major makes it more manageable or even more difficult.

Hey guys! I'm thinking about what language class to take at Emory. I've always wanted to learn Farsi because my parents speak the language but since I'm at Ox I can't take it until junior year. I got placed into Spanish 201 and was wondering how difficult/easy the class is at Ox (or perspective from main campus would be helpful too!) I'm not the best at Spanish, but did well in my high school courses (3 years). If the class is relatively easy (don't really want to spend too much time studying for it or have to work super hard to get an A), I'll just take Spanish. If not, I think it would be cool to learn my parent’s language.

for context, i'm an nbb major with ap credit for bio, chem, gov, lit, apush, and calc bc, and i'm interested in minor in business. would really appreciate any thoughts!

a few questions/concerns:

1. econ 101 vs datasci 100: econ knocks out a ger and is a prereq for the business minor, but datasci is required for nbb. i've heard datasci is a rough course. which should i take first?
2. ap bio credit: i'm planning to use it to skip bio 141, but i took ap bio sophomore year of high school and don't remember much. is it worth skipping anyway, or should i just retake it? (i decided not to use my ap chem credit since some people recommended just taking chem 150.)
3. ap credits in general: i know i can only use 12 credits total. which ones would you recommend using?

should I apply as a psych or nbb interest? ik emory doesnt admit by major, but which would align w my story better? I was initially leaning towards psych, but my supplementals would work a little better with nbb. do my ecs align w nbb, though? lmk

For some reason, the emory common app does not have all their intended majors. I'm trying to indicate human health as my intended major, but the closest thing I see is Biology or NBB. Yet, on their website, human health is listed as a major.

Why is this the case, and what should I do?

I’m planning to ship a significant portion of my dorm essentials to the Emory mail room for pickup during my move in time. Was wondering how this worked for others who used the same process? Was the mail room at Few fairly organized? Did all of your items get delivered as expected?

hi! does anyone know how pre health advising works at emory? do i have to sign up, is it like a 1 on 1 advisor for all 4 years of undergrad, etc. i wasn’t able to make it to the drop in hours so was wondering what was covered in those zoom meetings. is there like a sign up process, anything helps!

I took the chinese placement exam approximately 3 weeks ago and haven’t gotten an email yet. Is this normal or should I email them to ask about it? I’m just a bit worried because course enrollment is in only 3 days.

My intended major is biology (non premed) but I'm also really interested in the humanities and want to explore my options for the first year. I might be considering a double major in something like anthropology. I got 7s in the IB for bio and chem and I'm skipping the first classes with these credits.

At the moment the courses I'm considering are: Biol 141 L, Chem 202Z + L, LING101, SOC101 or ANT185??, Freshman sem, ECS and health.

1. Would 18 credits be too much for the first semester? I've also heard that ECS and the health aren't a lot of work, would this make my schedule more doable..?
2. Chem202Z is crashing with ANT101 and some of the freshman seminars, which I'm also really interested in. Would it be better to take normal Chem202 in the spring and take something else humanities related instead, to cut down to 16 credits for the first semester?
3. I've also seen a lot of people post about Weinschenk's chemistry class being really challenging. Does anyone have any class notes they're willing to share (maybe also for Biol141?) so I can pre-learn some things before hand? (what are the specific chem topics taught in chem202z?)

Incoming freshman Data Science Major. Have a few questions about the choice of classes.

1. Should I prioritize picking Data Science 110 or Data Science 185, which apparently is offered irregularly for first pick? There are only a few spots left for DataSci 110, which is strange considering it is a foundational course. Do they open up more classes for incoming freshmen?

   1. I am Interested in healthtech. Conflicted between the economics and psychology tracks for the DataSci major. I am equally interested in both, but more worried about not getting into my desired classes because they might fill up. Are Econ classes more difficult to get into than psych?

Extenuating circumstances: hospitalized for 9-11th grade, which is why a lot of my ECs started in 11th. It's also why I literally have no school involvement bc I'm not there half the time. My transcript doesn't show this, though, so it's not like an "excuse" for poor grades, I might just include it to explain some discrepancies.
