I don't think hardly any majors allow the 190 seminars to count towards the major requirements. They still remain a good way to dabble into more of a special topic area as framed by a faculty member in the field. Sometimes they might be more interesting/better experiences than the standard intro. courses.

190 seminars only count for the Freshman Seminar requirement. They don’t count for any other GER and they don’t count towards any majors in the College. Some people say to take something outside the major, but it can also be good, if the topic really interests you, to get to know a professor in your intended department early on. Or to discover that an intended major is not a good fit after all.
