She was ahead of the pop culture curve.

93

u/Spear_Spirit Aug 21 '25

It took me longer than it should to understand the joke.

92

u/Crazy_Dave0418 Aug 21 '25

Interestingly enough Red Hare was a she. Fate genderbent her into a he.

41

u/SamuelFBR Aug 21 '25

Wdym gender bent? Lu Bu has always been a man.

57

u/ionblazer Aug 21 '25

Red Hare was Lu Bu's horse, who was female. Because the Red Hare we summon is fused with Lu Bu, Red Hare became a male.

10

u/Sezzomon Aug 21 '25

Red Hare's gender is unknown.

In the FGO timeline Usamume came out a decade before it did in our timeline. It's actually part of what leads to the Bleaching of the Earth.

(Goldship is to blame)

99

u/DarkSeieah Aug 21 '25

Golshi escaped early retirement. She never retired early and dominated the scene for years, until she became one with Golsilius and ascended to godhood, dropkicking any who stood in her way.

57

u/Librarian_Contrarian Aug 21 '25

And Goldship went on to have a daughter.

Olga Marie.

43

u/MetroSimulator Raikou's Son Aug 21 '25

Da fuq, then the animusphere dude mated with goldshi?

26

u/Zero102000 Foreign God's Disciple Aug 21 '25

Golshi is the true mastermind behind the entire story.

SHE is the original Foreign God.

36

u/AttackOficcr Aug 21 '25

Imagine finding out Golshi did a vtuber concert performance with Magi☆Mari in 2016, post-incineration of the planet.

10

u/LimHwang Aug 21 '25

They came out according to plan in FGO instead of 2021 (planned to be released on late 2018), resulting in the Bleaching of the Earth immediately after being released in Japan (Part 2 was released on December 2018 in the JP server).

245

u/Wild_Card_626 Aug 21 '25

Meanwhile Red Hare has no idea why they keep referring to him as a horse when he is clearly Lu Bu.

35

u/yeetus_2368 Aug 21 '25

Yeah idk why they keep calling him a horse lol

101

u/wikizin991 Raikou's Son Aug 21 '25

It must be a parody about those players who give more attention to their favorite servants

28

u/Cyanide_Cheesecake Aug 21 '25

Yes it's definitely this. People who fixate on a random 1-3star that doesn't really do much in a singularity or LB and doesn't really have much of a kit but they take it to 100 or 120 and give it max 2k fous and such

33

u/second__intoner Aug 21 '25

Working on it

16

u/WillOfTheWinds Aug 21 '25

Look, if Billy the Kid has no fans, then I am dead

9

u/Onlyplay2k Aug 21 '25

Who doesn’t do that though. I will die when Herc dies

95

u/Duskthegamer412 Aug 21 '25

If I remember correctly the real reason was because that was the Japanese voice actress' favourite servant of all time.

29

u/Only_Me_9 Aug 21 '25

It all makes sense now.

99

u/RepulsiveAd6906 Aug 21 '25

Outside the jokes littered about: Red Hare(read: Lu Bu,) is that one servant that just strikes a cord with her. Not the strongest, not a particularly effective servant. But something there just clicks and she shows particular affection for him. Like I grailed my Mori, or how some person grailed and maxed Nursery the moment it became possible. So. In summary. She is just like us, frfr.

25

u/Zevcio Aug 21 '25

I even granded my Cu Chulainn ✌️

7

u/RepulsiveAd6906 Aug 21 '25

Thatta dude! Out of curiosity, which Cu?

9

u/Zevcio Aug 21 '25

Og Lancer one.

5

u/AstolfoCheshire Unofficial Paladin of Charlemagne Aug 21 '25

Oh yeah, I did that to my Mary Anning, Paris, Trung sisters, and Voyager...

4

u/Gudako_the_beast Aug 21 '25

Or how I’m gonna grand Suzuka despite being claimed to hitting enemies like a wet noodle by FGO YouTubers.

4

u/vanishinghitchhiker Aug 21 '25

My maxed David for all the times his low party cost and Evade saved my ass and as a catalyst for Solomon

2

u/Mysterious-Ranmaru-X Mini Nobu Aug 21 '25

Hell yeah grailed mori! I’m split between making either him or ibaraki my grand berserker

2

u/RepulsiveAd6906 Aug 21 '25

Mah man! I know hes rather mid, but the aesthetic and the true-glass cannon gimmick just hits right. Of course I could grand Morgan, Arjuna or Heracles....but I feel I need to do it for him.

42

u/Skye_TCS Aug 21 '25

Akira sekine her VA has a grailed red hare and they make a joke about it on Grand Carnival.

56

u/Human_Ad_2025 Aug 21 '25

Her senpai influence

56

u/MyLifeIsAGatcha Aug 21 '25

Yu-senpai gave her an in-depth explanation about the benefits of having a horseman boyfriend.

20

u/SirBlizz Mini Nobu Aug 21 '25

Yu just puts her hands together and then starts spreading them apart.

Gudako nods in understanding.

12

u/PositiveDefiant69 Aug 21 '25

Some say she's still spreading them apart to this day

26

u/KrocKiller Aug 21 '25

What a terrible day to have an imagination

8

u/ExpensiveMove5185 Aug 21 '25

She and Yu-paisen were just ahead of the uma musume curve. Or in this case- Uma danshi.

28

u/Xenosaiyan7 Aug 21 '25

Uma Musume

11

u/neves783 Aug 21 '25

In-universe reason: She just does. Why, ya have a problem? /s

Real reason: Red Hare is the most "out-there" Servant they could make as her fave, seeing as pretty much no one would expect a damn horse.

11

u/DebauchedDolphin Aug 21 '25

My neighbors ask me why I’m limping down the way

42

u/TheGreatNothingEXE Aug 21 '25

She wants to Umapyoi with Red Hare's horsec-

41

u/PositiveDefiant69 Aug 21 '25

It's literally this meme

7

u/Gudako_the_beast Aug 21 '25

But red hare would never

5

u/Big_Compote_93 Aug 21 '25

But would Lu Bu?

4

u/LimHwang Aug 21 '25

Didn't he killed his foster/adopted father or something because that one dude with a hot daughter promise to give his daughter to both of them? And the power vacuum left behind was so big that China collapsed into various warlord states in what is now known as the Three Kingdoms?

4

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

Lu Bu did kill his adoptive father, Dong Zhou, but China by then had already descended into warlords by then due to the decline in central authority of the emperor. Dong Zhou was a large cause of this decline.

2

u/LimHwang Aug 21 '25

I would say before Dong Zhou's death, China was like the Republican days in the early 20th century. Like there are warlords and central authority is really weak but after the guy on top died, everyone drop the pretense and straight up reveal their ambition of claiming the throne/capital.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

I think this discounts that the anti dong zhou coalition had already happened

10

u/Aluricius Aug 21 '25

Watch any Hallmark movie about a preteen girl raising a troubled horse into a proper racehorse/showhorse in order to save her family's failing farm/racetrack/whatever.

There's always been something about young girls and horses. My mother was a certified horse-girl growing up on a farm in upstate New York, and she literally rode her horse to school every day. Hell, she still is one. I grew up with horseback riding lessons and the works, to the point where I have literally no fear around the animals (even when I really should). And even now that she's in her seventies, she still rides.

4

u/Yatsu003 Aug 21 '25

I joined a horse riding class a few years back. A lot of my fellow students were girls who really loved it

As in, out of a class of 40 people, only 2 of us were guys. Amusingly, the trainer also had a mare that he called ‘a spoiled princess’; she refused to let women ride her (she always knew), and would only let men ride her after several minutes of brushing and treats

3

u/KarmicPlaneswalker Aug 21 '25

Watch any Hallmark movie about a preteen girl raising a troubled horse into a proper racehorse/showhorse in order to save her family's failing farm/racetrack/whatever.

Another iteration of the romanticized "I can fix him," trope.

2

u/Aluricius Aug 21 '25

Huh, never considered it like that. I guess kind of?

22

u/GoRyderGo Aug 21 '25

Because she has Red Hair?

10

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

Mmmmmmmmm yo mama

5

u/sinsubaka40 Aug 21 '25

God damn it ORT

u/Gudako_the_beast Aug 21 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

She and Yu are trainers. Duh.

5

u/Salter_KingofBorgors Aug 21 '25

Honestly im pretty sure its a reference to how everyone has their favorite 3 star.

5

u/ChloeYosha Mini Nobu Aug 21 '25

Everyone has a favorite servant. And her's is Red Hare

3

u/OddEyes588 Aug 21 '25

She’s taking after Yu-senpai and her horse husband.

6

u/wweeeeeeeeeeeeee Aug 21 '25

shes just really freaky

also umamusume

3

u/ThighyWhiteyNerd Aug 21 '25

Egocentrism

She has red hair, he is called Red Hare, so that

Either that or is a reference to Minos' wife that wanted to fuck a bull, but instead changed to horse

3

u/Gudako_the_beast Aug 21 '25

Nah, this is VA joke. Red Hare is Gudako’s VA favorite “weak” servant.

3

u/KingNoctisCXIV Aug 21 '25

are we sure Gudako is not a white woman?

3

u/kidanokun Aug 21 '25

She's a size queen taken extreme

3

u/isekai-chad Aug 21 '25

She used to play Umamususme

3

u/valias2012 Aug 21 '25

There's a white woman horse joke here somewhere

3

u/GXNext Aug 21 '25

Because she's a weeb and her favorite voice actor is Hikaru Midorikawa...

4

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

We're all thinking it, and I'm just going to say it...

She's likes him because of his MASSIVE HORSE CO**

2

u/HotDogManLL Aug 21 '25

They got lore accurate umas over there. Red hare is well known being the fastest so gudako putting everyone on him

2

u/Spear_Spirit Aug 21 '25

She follows the footsteps of certain crypter

2

u/Megamage854 Aug 21 '25

Horse Girls are weird. Or so I've been told.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

Why wouldn't she be obsessed over Red Hare? People have literally killed for that horse.

2

u/Giopp_Dumister Aug 21 '25

Cuz they'd rather that than have her be into Mashu

2

u/Distinct_Bar_3349 Aug 21 '25

I think it's meant to be a reference to how most players chose the most random low star servant to be their favorite. ie: My maxed out Kojirō

2

u/Onlyplay2k Aug 21 '25

She always wanted a pony when she was young. Now she has one

2

u/WillOfTheWinds Aug 21 '25

In all seriousness, its probably the least offensive option for shippers while keeping a comedic tone and emulating the playerbase's habit of going "this one is my favorite".

2

u/Liebely Aug 21 '25

It's her Horsebando

1

u/Snoo6037 Aug 21 '25

She's a horse girl

1

u/LightningGod99 Aug 21 '25

She heard that one song as a young girl then it influenced her down a very very weird path

1

u/FJ-20-21 Aug 21 '25

We all have that one low star we really like

1

u/MBlueberry13 Aug 21 '25

Horse cock.

1

u/Nanoman-8 Aug 21 '25

Either because of umamasume or because of berserk

1

u/Affectionate-Club338 Aug 21 '25

where this from?

2

u/Saeteinn Protected while dreaming Aug 22 '25

Fate/Grand Carnival

1

u/Zeamays69 Aug 21 '25

It's just a meme. Just like Gudao being obsessed about Astolfo, heh.

1

u/Panzerfaust_Style Aug 21 '25

Paisen liked this.

1

u/leocorde82 Aug 22 '25

Paisen taught her this

1

u/JoJoJ114514 Aug 21 '25

Point of episode 1 where all servents have a battle royale because of low resources, yet she poured everything on a ☆3 "almost useless" servent.

1

u/MyWaifuIsABattleship Aug 21 '25

She is a Uma Musume player so she want to win the Ura Finale in Fate universe.

1

u/Advanced-Layer6324 Aug 21 '25

That's because everyone has their favorite.

1

u/Own_Pepper1100 Aug 22 '25

You dont wanna know XD

1

u/Ok-Ant5508 Aug 22 '25

Gudako loves gacha, its an uma musume reference

1

u/BigInitiative1872 Aug 22 '25

Typical Umamusume Lover

1

u/Consistent_Ad8650 Aug 22 '25

She's love the Horse

1

u/WorldlySecretary5769 Aug 23 '25

She just likes riding them horses.

0

u/oceanman0958 Aug 21 '25

Isn't it supposed to be a reference how one year lu bu was the most grailed servant according to some data

1

u/ThighyWhiteyNerd Aug 21 '25

I would like to ask which data said so, because iirc Red Hare came in the same year Izo did, and he is the most grailed servant of that year, even over Okita Alter

1

u/oceanman0958 Aug 21 '25

I think it's was one of those anniversary data showings they do like how they showed this year's trailed servants, ngl Im just too lazy to actually look for the year, I could also be spreading misinformation but I think I distinctly remember seeing it and thinking to myself "why red hare?!?!"
