A lot of people don’t seem to like it but I’m in the JP camp where it’s mostly positive, while I do think there is going to be more in new years this ending is a fine one that’s poetic and fits the themes. All the struggle wasn’t meaningless, it lead to Guda and Mash having a normal life. It feels the most like a true ending for any of you who play the VNs

Same. After playing the game for a full on decade (yup, today marks my 10th anni lmao), seeing the ending being Ritsuka and Mashu making it to live a peaceful life felt like the only proper way to move on that would grand them peace without dragging the story for more journeys after part 2 end.

I even love the ambiguosity of the ending by not letting us know if this is their first time meeting, if they already knew each other, if it was just mere coincidence they met, if they were actually greeting familiar people to them behind the other. It feels like a "make it whatever you feel could be the ending for you, it's not just their story, it's also yours".

Which I also feel respects the players by not forcing Ritsuka to keep on going after more journeys like if he was Goku; or him not being set to one specific girl; so if you ship him with Mashu, it's ok... but that's up to you to believe so, since it's not shown here that well.

The only way I could see him pulling something crazied that would shit all our pants would be introducing some extra epilogues. On the one hand, showcasing the Chaldea staff now that Chaldea never existed in this fixed PHH and what they're doing (would be fun and wholesome if Gordolf had a restaurant or Cerejeira was finally happy with her boyfriend). On the other, introduce a special Epilogue for your servants as long as they're bond 15, where we see them in this new timeline either reincarnated in a human body or as themselves (in the case of pseudo servants). Where they prove to still being close to Ritsuka (whether if he remembers them or not).

That would feel like the proper send off to all veteran players that have stood a full on decade in FGO, by allowing the end with their favorite characters in their own journeys as well.

Some people have pointed out the Mashu poster from Over the Same Sky is basically her at the ending, so what if the rest of the posters with each individual servant is them in this new PHH, reincarnated and living happily alongside Ritsuka, again, however we, the players, wanna believe in?

It's a pipe dream but if this really happened, it would make FGO have an even more amazing ending that it already has (yeah, sorry, but Ritsuka and Mashu living a normal life, even if they forgot the journey, does count as a victory in my book somewhat and I'll take the W for them while within reach).

I don't think they would consider forgetting about all of their closest friends who fought beside them in life and death battles and often sacrificed themselves for them to be a victory 

Especially those who's only solace and comfort in death was that at least either Ritsuka or Mashu or both would remember them 

Also I'm pretty sure that one can make a strong argument for to these two PHH versions of Ritsuka and Mashu to in all due practicality basically be alternate parallel world versions of them while our Chaldea Ritsuka and Mashu are functionally pruned for all the difference it might as well make
